Clinton Defends NFL Players on Trump’s ‘Troubling’ Remarks: Protest Is ‘Part of the American Way of Life’
Hillary Clinton is among those disturbed by President Trump‘s feud with professional athletes who take a knee in peaceful protest.
In an interview with Siruis XM’s Zerlina Maxwell, Clinton defended players kneeling during the anthem by saying “Protest is a part of the American way of life.” Clinton said that Trump’s attacks are bad for the country, and she also wondered why he’s coming out against athletes with greater force than he did against Russia or white supremacists.
“I think peaceful protest is part of what has helped us make progress, learn more, be a better country over time, and I just couldn’t help thinking he has attacked these black athletes for peacefully protesting but he doesn’t really attack white supremacists, neo-Nazis, Ku Klux Klansmen, or Vladimir Putin, who interfered in our election.”

Clinton continued to say that Trump is using the strife generated by his “deeply troubling” comments as part of his political calculations.
