Democratic Senators Pushing Obama to Declassify Additional Info Related To Russian Hacking

obama-3In a letter sent by the Democratic members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, President Barack Obama was asked to provide additional information over Russia’s purported interference in the latest election.

The seven members were led by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) and the letter was sent on Tuesday. The very brief message merely said the following:

We believe there is additional information concerning the Russian Government and the U.S. election that should be declassified and released to the public. We are conveying specifics through classified channels.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

In October, the administration made accusations against the Kremlin, claiming it was messing with the election via hacking and releasing information. 17 U.S. intelligence agencies stated that Russia was behind email hacking of the Democratic National Committee and other accounts that were later released to WikiLeaks.

At the same time, while the White House has stood by its assertion that Russia tried to interfere with the election, it has also said there is no proof that voting machines were hacked. Currently, Green Party candidate Jill Stein is leading a recount effort in three states, saying it was a “hack-riddled election.”
