Earnest: Obama’s Public Remarks About Knowledge of Clinton Server ‘Entirely Factual’
One of the biggest Podesta emails released to date by WikiLeaks reveals that Team Clinton needed to “clean up” President Obama‘s remarks about not knowing about Hillary Clinton‘s private server. As Cheryl Mills emailed last year, “He has emails from her – they do not say state.gov.”
See, the president publicly said he found out about the private server in the news.
So isn’t there a problem here?
Well, Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters today, according to The Hill, that “what the president said was an entirely factual response.”
“I recognize that some of the president’s critics have attempted to construct some type of conspiracy about the communication between the president and the Secretary of State,” Earnest said during a gaggle today. “But they’ve failed to put forward a conspiracy that withstands any scrutiny, so I guess they are back to recycling thoroughly debunked conspiracies.”
For the record, this is what Earnest told reporters in March 2015 (days after that Mills email was sent out):
“Yes, he [Obama] was aware of her email address. He traded emails with her. But he was not aware of her personal email server or that she was using it exclusively for all her business.”
