Fox’s Howard Kurtz: Neutralizing the Press Is Clearly a ‘Central Mission’ of Trump WH

Fox News’ Howard Kurtz said tonight that based on what President Trump and Steve Bannon have said at CPAC in the past few days, it’s clear that “neutralizing the press” is a “central mission” of the Trump White House.

He told Tucker Carlson that Trump is basically convinced the only way he can get his agenda passed is to attack and discredit the press because of their hostility towards him.

And while Kurtz did concede that Trump has received “relentlessly negative coverage” and has reason to be upset, attacking outlets like CNN doesn’t really fix much and if anything pushes them more “into the opposition camp.”

Carlson said that people who are too “emotionally invested” in Trump––whether that be in a positive or a negative way––can’t cover him fairly.
