During the second Presidential debate Sunday night, viewers distracted themselves from the incredibly contentious standoff that was happening before their eyes by imagining Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump not tearing each other into pieces, but instead, singing a beautiful duet.
Using the hashtag #debatesongs, Twitter users imagined the candidates singing “Baby it’s Cold Outside,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” and other classics. One YouTube user decided to one-up everyone and actually dubbed their mouths over Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes‘ song, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”
The hilarious video has already been viewed over 700,000 times, and it definitely eases the tension of what was otherwise a pretty terrifying experience.
One commenter wrote, “I salute the work you took to make this!!!” Another added, “AMEN.” Somebody suggested that they use this as the opening for the third debate, which takes place at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 19.
