Michele Bachmann has a sense of humor, says Michele Bachman, in an attempt to make casual her comments (jokes?) from the weekend wherein she suggested the East Coast’s recent spate of natural disasters were meant as a warning from God to the politicians in Washington.
“Of course I was being humorous when I said that. It would be absurd to think it was anything else,” she said Monday. “I am a person who loves humor, I have a great sense of humor.”
Unfortunately, it’s not up to her, but up to her voters to decide if her jokes are funny, and something tells us that those who incurred actual damage during last week’s hurricane or earthquake probably aren’t laughing. And as her public gaffes begin to pile-up, one has to wonder just how much more her followers can laugh away. Her poor showings in recent polls might indicate that, funny as it may be, her touch might be wearing.
