Newt Gingrich Officially Dropping Out Of GOP Race On Wednesday

The final word is in: Newt Gingrich is officially dropping his presidential bid on Wednesday. Earlier reports said Gingrich would bow out on Tuesday, but sources close to the candidate have confirmed that Wednesday will be the candidate’s last hoorah before conceding victory to Mitt Romney. Romney entered general election mode after Rick Santorum dropped out weeks ago, but Gingrich continued to stay in the race.

According to Fox News, Gingrich is likely going to endorse Romney during his formal concession, which Rick Santorum has yet to do. Over the course of the campaign, Gingrich kept insisting that while he has serious issues with Romney, he would certainly campaign for him to make sure President Obama loses in November.

With Gingrich out of the race, the only other candidate challenging Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination will be Ron Paul.
