Proposed CA Bill Would Make Porn Stars Wear Protective…

If there’s one thing that’s important to the porn industry, it’s personal health. And a bill proposed to the California legislature by the state’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health is pushing for more protection for adult film stars, including requiring condoms during intercourse, and some kind of ocular protection, to make sure that no one… “unloads” into someone’s eyes.

So if you’ve ever browsed PornHub and thought, “Gee, this would be a whole lot better if everyone was wearing safety goggles,” you’re in luck!

Salon’s Tracy Clark-Flory pointed out that the bill is basically unnecessary because there are existing laws about porn protection on the books that just don’t get enforced.

Condoms, and other barrier methods, are technically already required in porn, both during penetrative and oral sex… So too is eye protection from semen and other bodily fluids. If you’ve ever watched a porn you probably have a sense of just how relatively rarely these requirements are enforced. If instituted, these draft guidelines would actually offer a trial period in which an exception is made for the barrier method requirement during oral sex.

On the plus side, maybe it doesn’t have to be goggles. Maybe we’ll finally get some use out of Google Glass after all.
