Sen. Candidate Alvin Greene Not Impressed With “Tacky” Bobbleheads Of Himself

Poor Alvin Greene – no one will make him decent “action dolls” of himself.

That’s what the surprise Democratic Senate candidate from South Carolina wanted to help stimulate the economy, but now a minor league baseball team is having fun with the idea. And Greene isn’t happy.

CBS News’ Gary Hamilton looked at the upcoming promotion from the Charlestown RiverDogs, a class A minor league baseball team for the New York Yankees. The RiverDogs are handing out a male Statue of Liberty gold bobblehead with Greene’s face taped on it. (Side note – why were they handing out the male Statue of Liberty bobbleheads in the first place?)

Well Greene was not very impressed by the finished product. “They could have done a better job than that,” Greene told CBS News. “They could have just made a real caricature. A real figurine rather than just something tacky like that.”

This is a big weekend for Greene, who makes his first major public speech tomorrow to a South Carolina chapter of the NAACP. More than 500 are expected to attend – we can only hope this includes some cable news outlets.

Here’s CBS’ report:
