Spicer Explains How This White House Will Accomplish Middle East Peace: ‘The Man Is Different’
Earlier today, President Donald Trump welcomed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the White House. During a public statement, Trump said that he’d work as a “mediator” for Middle East peace, stating that “we will get this done.”
At the White House press briefing this afternoon, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked how this time will be different, considering that is at least the fourth administration in a row that has come in optimistic that they can achieve peace.
“I think the man is different,” Spicer responded. “You look at––the president’s diplomacy style is paying dividends.”
He added, “This president’s style is one to develop a personal bond with individuals and I think you saw that today with President Abbas — him talking so kindly about the president.”
Spicer would go on to bring up other interactions Trump has had with world leaders, such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Meanwhile, Trump said shortly after the election that son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner could be someone who could achieve Middle East peace.
