Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer Fires Back at ‘Threats’ from Michael Cohen Over Lawsuit
President Donald Trump fiercely denies the claim that he and Stormy Daniels had any kind of intimate relationship, but for someone who’s completely innocent, his lawyer is doing a whole lot to get the porn star to keep quiet.
NBC News learned that Michael Cohen, who signed an agreement with Daniels and paid her $130,000 to keep her story under wraps – a contract Daniels is suing Trump over because the president never signed it – has obtained a secret restraining order against her in a private arbitration proceeding. She will apparently face penalties if she breaks this order.
Daniels filed her lawsuit on Tuesday, at which point Cohen obtained the temporary restraining order against her which prohibits her from violating an NDA she signed in October 2016, just before the election.
Cohen also allegedly dispatched his own attorney, Lawrence Rosen, to caution Daniels against breaking the terms of the order. Michael Avenatti, Daniels’ current lawyer, told NBC News that he was unfazed by this.
“Earlier today, Mr. Cohen through his attorney, Mr. Rosen, further threatened my client in an effort to prevent her from telling the truth about what really happened,” Avenatti said. “We do not take kindly to these threats, nor we will be intimidated.”
