Giuliani Sends Late Night Tweet Explaining Why Witches Shouldn’t Be Offended By Mueller ‘Witch Hunt’
Late Wednesday night, President Donald Trump‘s lawyer Rudy Giuliani explained that witches don’t have to be offended by Trump’s — and others — use of the phrase “witch hunt” to describe the Mueller probe.
“According to CNN witches favor Democrats and they are offended that the Meuller investigation is described as a Witch Hunt. There is no reason for the witches to be offended because Witch Hunt derives from, for example, the Salem Witch Hunts where people were executed unjustly,” he wrote.
Giuliani was likely referring to a segment that aired over the holidays on CNN.
In that segment, CNN National Correspondent Jeanne Moos spoke with real-life witches — who she noted mostly side with liberals — who were not impressed by Trump’s turn of phrase, including author of the book Witchcraft Activism David Salisbury who called the use of the term “disgraceful” and noted 1000s of people were executed in Europe.
Moos ended the segment — which was sprinkled with clips of iconic movie and television witches and insights like real witches tend not to be “bewitched” — by saying that witches were certainly a demographic Trump does not have a “spell on.”
It is unclear why Trump’s lawyer felt the need to respond.
