Chuck Schumer Roasts Trump to His Face: When the ‘President Brags He Won North Dakota, He’s in Trouble’
The political divide for the next two years was on full display during an Oval Office meeting between President Donald Trump and the Democratic leadership from both chambers of Congress, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). A stoic Vice President Mike Pence was also in attendance.
In what can only be described as a made for reality TV moment, Trump, Schumer, and Pelosi traded political barbs over a number of issues. In a discussion focused on the border wall and Trump’s threat to shut down the government if he does not get funding, things got tense.
There are numerous moments to memorialize and highlight in this remarkable exchange, but this post is focused on the world-class bravado on display by Brooklyn’s own — Senator Chuck Schumer.
The video speaks for itself, but the tone of this clip is set when Schumer opens by calling out Trump’s alleged propensity for speaking mistruths when he told the President that The Washington Post gave you a lot of Pinocchios because you constantly misstate how much of the wall is built, but that’s not the point.”
After more back and forth, Schumer hit again, when after Trump touted some political wins, he said: “When the president brags that he won North Dakota and Indiana, he is in trouble.”
There is much more to watch in the clip, which you can see above, courtesy of CNN.
