CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Rebukes Trump: ‘We Are Not the Enemy of the American People’
Wolf Blitzer took a moment of his show today to say that whatever Donald Trump thinks, the media is not the “enemy” of the American people.
Trump went after the press again on Wednesday, this time saying that CNN and NBC are the “biggest enemies” of the country because of their critical, “fake news” coverage on his summit with Kim Jong Un. As Blitzer discussed this with Julie Davis and David Gregory, he joined the chorus of media figures who wondered how Trump can call reporters the top “enemy” instead of foreign powers that are actually hostile towards the country.
“It’s one thing not to like the media,” Blitzer said. “Everybody is always criticizing us and not happy with our coverage…it’s another thing to say it’s not North Korea, it’s not Iran, it’s not Russia, it’s not China, it’s journalists, like us, who are the enemy of the American people.”
After giving Gregory the last word on the negative impact Trump’s media-bashing has caused, Blitzer brought the segment to a close while rebuking the president’s tweet.
“A lot of his supporters believe that we are the enemy of the American people, and that is really an awful situation. We are not the enemy of the American people. We love the American people.”
