‘What the Hell?!’: Watch Larry David and Bernie Sanders Find Out They’re Actually Related
Clip shows Larry David and Bernie Sanders reacting after discovering they're related
After all the jokes on their resemblance, it turns out that Bernie Sanders and Larry David are actually related.
The two discovered this fact while appearing on the PBS program Find Your Roots, which focuses on the family history of celebrities. Sanders responds to finding out the fact that David is a distant cousin by gasping and saying, “You’re kidding. This is unbelievable.”
David, who is famous for impersonating the Vermont senator on the comedy series Saturday Night Live, reacted with a “what the hell?!”
“That is really funny. That is amazing. Alright, cousin Bernie,” added David — even though he was hoping to actually be related to a famous athlete.
Hilariously, the Independent senator said that this actually makes sense, since people often say that the SNL star does an even better version of Sanders than he himself does. “People say to me, they talk about Larry David, and I say he does a better Bernie Sanders than I do,” said Sanders.
Both the celebrities have spoken about their resemblance and David’s killer impersonation, as he once jokingly asked in an MSNBC interview with Rachel Maddow, “Am I really Larry David?”
You’re not quite Larry, Mr. Senator — but you’re apparently closer than most thought.
