Back To The Presser: The Pres. Obama Press Conference Live Blog

live blog

It’s been 308 days since Pres. Barack Obama held his last press conference (I know! And we even elected the guy, am I right, tea partiers?) – but he’s back at the podium today to talk…well we’ll find out at 1pmET.

The oil spill and clean-up will likely be the main topic, but what about Sestak? Or Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell? Or Scott Brown’s pick-up truck/basketball game? We’ll be here to live blog it all for you!

It’ll be the Mediaite team plus a feed of Twitter-ers from across the political spectrum. And you! Leave you comments as it happens in real-time…

I expect a lot of distractions, half-truths and pointing of the finger.

  • http://politicsofdestruction.com/ Bobomatic

I expect maybe 3 or 4 questions tops since it takes him 20 minutes to answer a single question.

Obama: “The government is in charge of the oil disaster response.”

Ouch…I wouldn’t be saying that too loud.

  • TfT

It’s Bush’s fault; what a child this character is.

I like what the President is saying so far but I’m not sure how well it will play in Peoria. Most Americans react more strongly to images rather than substance, so I wish Obama would bang the podium a little and lose his temper. I like his cool and intelligent approach, but the general public wants red meat. Let see some forehead veining Mr. President!

  • Liberty – Not Redistribution

This guy is WAY out of his league.

  • The Real Royal King

I agree, PG. “No Drama” may be good in the long term, but it can sure be frustrating.

There is no denying that disaster of George Bush lives on in countless ways. Clearly it will take more than 1 1/2 years to undo what was done during that lost decade. I realize that the American people’s attention span is short but I am confident that no matter what happens in ’12, Obama will have made much of that necessary repair. He may not get credit, but for the sake of our nation, I am so glad he is President now.

  • The Real Royal King

SO far, I think President Obama has got the big picture. Surely, he doesn’t have all of the details down. I don’t think I would expect that of the President.

  • The Real Royal King

“We can’t drill our way out of the problem (of energy).” I like it.

Liberty, Obama out of his league? League of what? Intellectual heavyweights the likes Sarah Palin or JD Hayworth?

  • TfT

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Actually the 1200 troops I’m sending — the plan was developed a year ago and not in response to AZ. I’m smarter than to ever have said “drill baby drill”. Gosh, this man is an arrogant blowhard and clearly out of his league as Liberty said above.

  • TfT

Just this morning Malia asked him “Did you plug the hole yet daddy?”

  • Liberty – Not Redistribution

    Trickletown,

Did I say anything about Palin? No I didn’t he just looks overwhelmed, stubling, double-speak, “uh..ums”.

You’ll be delighted to know that I don’t care for Palin, nor did I care for Bu$h. Bu$h and Obama are really no different in my book.

Does this mean he’s using his children as a “prop,” as so often is claimed when talking about Palin.

Thanks for the comment Trickle. After all your talk over the past few days about ideologues, and people who can’t stay on topic, and just make it political… I can see what you mean. Of course, you’ve demonstrated you’re no better than those which you complain about… but I think someone asked you that question to make that point.

Well I learned something new: statutory requirement obligated agency to process drilling requests within 30 days after they have been submitted.

    P.S.
Let’s just scrap the MMS and other federal agencies and just have teeny weenie tiny government so oil companies, Wall Street bankers, and meat packers can self-regulate.

OR… we could keep are ever expanding government, and continue shrug our shoulders and say, “They’ll get’em next time,” every time they’re found to not do the job they’re supposed to.

  • writer

    Trickle, you’re sounding awfully partisan.

This person (-0bama) uses more words to say nothing of substance than any politician I’ve ever seen. Don’t get me wrong, I believe Mr. Bush mishandled quite a few things (hindsight being what it is) but it seems that everything Mr. -0bama is doing is to the detriment of our country. It seems as though he’s doing all he can to make the US like Greece. Greece is–and has been–in terrible shape for a very long time; that’s why I left that country back in 1968–I saw then what was coming.

Why scrap them, lets just have them do what they were designed to do rather than create new larger ones that cost twice as much and are just as ineffectual as there predecessors.
