Bill Maher On Tea Party: “Why Let The Truth Spoil A Perfectly Good Klan Rally”

video

Bill Maher opened tonight’s show with a monologue focused on, what else? The Tax Day Tea Party protests held yesterday, across the country of course. The host of Real Time with Bill Maher chose to focus on the lowest form of critique: implying that all involved were racist. Hillarious! Judging by the reaction of the studio audience, at least some thought it was funny. Quick question – exactly who is guilty of race baiting again?

Irresponsible comment from Maher. Then again, he seems to be making a career out of these kinds of comments. They tell me it’s comedy, but where is the humor in these types of offensive smears?

  • Averreauxii

It’s fighting fire with fire. Gutter-sniping works both ways.

  • Arkansas Steve

Maher has built his career on irresponsible commments.
He could not carry a show without his audience of lemmings.

  • Averreauxii

Incendiary & provocative. He is the left’s version of Ann Coulter. His statement was hyperbolic for a reason. To draw ire from the right. That’s why he does it!. People on the right do the same thing.

  • felixw

The laugh is on the pundits who continue to push this tired meme about the tea party. As a recent survey shows, the attendees at these events are well educated, hard working people — in many ways the economic and cultural anchors of their communities. Many of them are small business owners. Most are moms and pops raising families. Trying to paint these people as violent, cross-burning bigots is an exercise in futility, as well as a vile smear. And if the Democrats think it is a witty joke to link these folks to the Ku Klux Klan, they will learn in November what happens when you build your campaign rhetoric on ridiculing tens of millions of politically active individuals.

And that’s okay with you? Does that mean you’d defend Coulter?

  • Caryson

………..who really cares what this idiot has to say?

When has he ever been right about anything?

You know the tea party movement is getting traction when all the left wingers including Bubba Clinton have nothing to go after them.

  • Latin2

uh, Maher is that why there are black, Latino and Asian speakers and protesters at the rallies?

I went to my local Tea Party protest, and I am a Latina and there were many people of color.

  • JamesA1102

I have to agree. Maher’s comment was over the top and inappropriate.

  • Latin2

Let’s see Maher said ALL Americans are idiots. So why watch him.

Oh and ALL means you Liberals too.

  • ImNotBlue

There really is only one group of people who think Maher is funny, insightful, and appropriate… and that group of people is, Bill Maher.

So if you’re outside of that group (ie: not Bill Maher), you probably realize what an egotistical dope he is.

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    Go Bill Go!!!!

“What’s good for the Coulter is good for the Maher”.

  • Rogue-Comic

As bad as Coulter can be, she never speaks as Maher does. Its as if Maher is familiar with the cliff notes of Alinsky but never bothered to actually read the man’s works. Maher only marginalizes himself with his current pundit persona while spooking his center left audience with his irresponsible extremism.

    This just in:

Stupid Douche says stupid douchey things.

    Film at 11……

  • Sunnyr

Does anyone really care what this goofy dirtbag has to say?

  • Jelperman

You care -or else you wouldn’t have posted now would you?

  • atretrioeciii

I try to filter information in a way that gets rid of some of the more obvious evidence so I can at least see if the people I am watching have a point of some sort. The first filter is stupidity. The taxes being paid by the middle class are the lowest in 50 years according to the Tax Policy Center, a joint project of the nonpartisan Urban Institute and Brookings Institution.

These teabaggers are supposed to be more educated?

Man, these people can’t even get past the most basic form of judgement.

Interesting thing though, stupid people are more likely not to realize they are stupid, while at the same time they will resist any attempt to actually think about any new evidence that is given to them.

Insert “Glenn Beck” or “Rush Limbaugh” or “Shawn Hannity” or “Michael Savage” or any number of other such types in your sentence and they have all built their careers on irresponsible comments and could not carry a show without their audiences of lemmings.

One more thing, I know not all republicans are not racists, but why are all racists republicans?

  • Dave Richards

Maher is a hack comedian who deals in personal attacks. A waste of good oxygen.

  • roxsteady

Personal attacks? You mean like the ignorant, premium saltines who show up at those rally?. None of you have a problem with these idiots showing up with their offensive signs slamming the Preisdent and the Dems but, when someone dares to point out the obvious you get defensive. Deal with it. These are sore losers who voted for McCain and Palin and got their asses kicked. They now believe they are the majority now and will “Take back their country”. There’s just one problem with that. At just 18% of the population they’ll get their asses kikced again. Only another idiot wouldn’t notice that these are in fact, white power rallys. And they aren’t taking back shit! They’re just a group of disgruntled voters who lost. They should be used to it.

  • http://www.anonymousfinch.com AnonymousFinch

    roxsteady:

The problem (for you) is that it’s not 18% of the population. Right now according to Gallup, Obama’s reelect numbers are 50% does not deserve reelection/46% deserves reelection. Those who believe that Obama does not deserve reelection include: 12% of Democrats, 54% of Independents, and 88% of Republicans.

There’s obviously a long way to go before 2012, but Obama needs to change course. Right now, you’re on the losing side of this one.

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/127388/Voters-Currently-Divided-Second-Obama-Term.aspx

  • roxsteady

No dear, it’s you who is on the losing side. Just wait until November. You people seem to think that you’re in the majority but, you’re not. Teabaggers are just 18% of the population which sounds a lot like the 20% who call themselves Republicans. You’re going to get your asses kicked again!

  • roxsteady

And what are the Republicans doing right now? Trying to convince it’s idiot followers that Financial Reform is a bailout of the banks by using Luntz’s incoherent talking points. After meeting with 25 CEO’s on Wall Street last week, they actually think that we’re stupid. Their supporters are the one’s who are stupid if they believe that bullshit. This is just one of many reasons why they’ll get hammered again.

  • roxsteady

There was a point when these people really showed their hatred and that was when we saw the many professionally made “Bury Obamacare with Kennedy” signs. Remember how proudly each displayed that sign, smiling? Stay Classy Teabaggers!

  • Jamestaylor

“Bury Obamacare with Kennedy” signs.- Prove it liar.

Let’s remember what Hillary had to say about protests.

I love how liberals embrace Bill’s hate. It makes them feel at home.

  • tjl

Jamestaylor, you really crack me up. Here is the sign you are looking for… (and I just copied one link from the hundreds I found).

    http://cockingasnook.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/bury-obamacare-with-kennedy-sept-12-2009.jpg

You really aren’t the brightest tool, but I do give you credit for being a tool.

  • Jamestaylor

tjl , who was carrying that sign? Since your link REFUSES to show who that person was or the context, , we must assume it is a liberal.

    You aren’t to smart tjl.
Why don’t you just open your mind and shut your mouth, both are empty anyway.

Let’s look at liberal hate shall we?

After watching the “left” hate videos, I change my mind. “Bury Obamacare with Kennedy” is a perfectly acceptable sign.

    Thanks tjl!

Check it out Roxsteady. The public says that the tea party represents its views more closely than the President:

One more thing, I know not all republicans are not racists, but why are all racists republicans?

I didn’t know that Robert Byrd was a Republican!

On Senator Byrd’s own site it states, “He has always remained true to his faith and his family, while working to build a better future for his state and his country.”

Always is a big word, it covers lots of territory. Senator Byrd is telling us that while he was a recruiter for the KKK he was being true to he faith and family! Imagine that!

Roxsteady doesn’t strike me as the kind of poster open to debate about his or her positions, evidence to the contrary or no.

  • TruckBoatTruck

Is this the same public that was overwhelmingly against the troop surge in Iraq?

Yet the Govt. did it anyway, didn’t they. And it seems to have worked out, didn’t it.

Welcome to America — where we elect representatives to govern and where opinion polls are just that… opinion.

Professionally made sign? Looks to me like an 8 1/2 x 11 color print out from someones low cost printer. But, don’t let that stop your hyperbole, hahahahaha

    And these people are republicans?

I love fact checking. It is so easy with this fancy internet thing…

As noted on Politico, the signs were made by the American Life League.

Hey RichS, don’t bother letting a 2 second Google search get in the way of you showing your idiocy to the world.

Off topic, maybe, but I was watching the Tea Bagger Tax Day “protest” on C-Span and it really, truly was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!!! Unintentional comedy at it’s finest.

They welcomed in “Hollywood Stars” the Rivoli Revue (can you believe it?? They got the Revue to show up)! The lead singer went on this rant about how she’s not a racist, hit all the tea bagger talking points, and then sang a song called “Press One for English!” Old white people are wonderful!

    Taxed Enough Already!!!

  • zepfan81

When Bill did “Politically Incorrect” I was a big fan, but over the past few years he’s become a real pompous @$$. Don’t really even find him funny anymore.

  • Capt Kirk

Liberals accusing the Tea Partiers of hating while using the derogatory sexual slang term “Teabaggers” is wonderfully hypocritical.

  • http://www.karlspensen.blogspot.com Karl Spensen

You guys are RIGHT!!1 Pill Mahr is MUCH WORSE than Ann Coulter!!1 Just another example of the NEVERENDING HATE MACHINE of the left!!1 Like remember when he called Mitch McConnell a “faggot”?!1 OH WAIT that was Coulter talking about John Edwards but STILL MAHR IS WORSE!!!!!!!!!1

  • felixw

Karl Spensen, try a little harder. If you want to do comedy, it needs to include some element of humor.

  • MDT

Would’nt you like to have the nickels it would take to fill Maher’s nose?
