Driving Woman Asks Jesus to Take the Wheel; It Doesn’t Go Well
A 25-year-old Indiana woman is probably going to hell after she ran over a motorcyclist with her car on July 11, nearly killing him. But her defense is bulletproof: She let go of her steering wheel because she asked God to drive her car.
According to the Journal-Gazette, Prionda Hill told authorities that she let go of her wheel and “God told her he would take it from here.” Her vehicle stopped only after it ran into an island between two fast food restaurants, and Hill allegedly told the police that she had a Vicodin prescription at the time. Hill faces multiple charges, including failure to stop after an accident resulting in injury or death, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Luckily, Anthony Oliveri survived the accident, telling the Gazette that though he may never drive again, he’s lucky to be alive. “When I looked at that bumper and looked at that tire, I told myself, today is the day you die,” he recounted.
Jesus (who is, by most accounts, God) is often asked to take the wheel of people’s lives to guide them to salvation, but this is widely understood to be a metaphor for faith, and not an actual request for Jesus to be one’s personal chauffeur.
Besides, it’s not like Jesus actually knows how to drive a car.
