Haley Barbour Concedes Obama Not Most Radical President In History

I think this could reasonably be described as damning with faint name-calling. Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour , who has been making the media (and name-calling) rounds of late, popped up on CNN’s State of the Union yesterday and managed to make a number of newsy waves. In what Andrew Sullivan called a measure of “how mainstream McDonnell’s Confederate History emphasis is” Barbour told host Candy Crowley that he didn’t think McDonnell’s first proclamation was a mistake. So there’s that.

Moreover, when pressed to confronted with the charge that the Republicans are running the risk of being defined as “mean old white guys” and pushed to say whether he agreed with Newt Gingrich‘s assertion that President Obama is the most radical president in U.S. History, Barbour opted to tone down the rhetoric just a tad saying there was “no doubt” Obama was the most left-wing. Who is the most radical president then?

Without question, Teddy Roosevelt. A trust buster and environmentalism with strong progressive leanings.

If we are even debating IF he is the most radical, we are still in BIG trouble. Obama is an empty suit. We are still suffering from the FDR damage. Social Security could have worked if they only raised the retirement age as people lived longer. Obamacare, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security will destroy this country.

Yes, it’s extremely radical to pass a watered down version of a health proposal that has been a cornerstone of every Democratic presidential campaign for the last 20 years!

Can’t wait to see Obama’s “radical” SCOTUS pick who will nodoubt further support the expansion of executive power.

“Barbour opted to tone down the rhetoric just a tad saying there was “no doubt” Obama was the most left-wing.”

    Translation: Most radical

    FDR

Only because all Republican presidents since Hoover have found it necessary to move sharply to the center to govern. Conservatism is merely an ideology. It is not a style of governance. I’d say W was radically right and Raygun slightly right of center. Poppy, Nixon and Eisenhower were centrists. Ford was slightly left of center. W was probably the most politically radical president we have had since Theodore Roosevelt.

Not by any stretch of the imagination. The thrust of his presidency was to save capitalism from itself. He didn’t integrate the services (Truman did), he didn’t champion Medicare, Voting Rights or Civil Rights (Johnson did), and he imprisoned the Japanese. His greatness didn’t lie in transformational programs but in making capitalism in America again viable.

We are still suffering from the FDR damage.

FDR damage??? FDR saved this country, saved the economy and saved the capitalism in the process.

You are a true (-). This is like who is Time’s man of the Year, dullard.

FDR changed this country, for better or worse, more than any President .

Your myopia is staggering for the King of the Queens.

  • The Real Royal King

The old personal attack. You lost again, huh?

  • Averreauxii

Barbour is the master of nuance and ambiguity. I watched him get pressed by Chris Matthews months ago to state explicitly whether Sarah Palin is QUALIFIED to be POTUS. He didn’t say yes, and he didn’t say no. Matthews asked him the same question THREE TIMES!

    BTW, TRRK, man-up!

Haley Barbour is WRONG! We have never had a more radical president in charge of this country. I would like him to advise us as to who was more radical than Obama. He doesn’t exist! And Haley Barbour had better give up his wish to be President. He is living in a fantasy world if he thinks he can win. NO WAY!

  • Fidoohki

    Most Radical? Wodrow Wilson.

The conventional newspaper practice has reporters writing articles while editors write the headlines, mostly because reporters cannot know the type sizes to be assigned to their stories or number of columns they will occupy. Ms. MacNicol likely did not write this headline, because the claim, “Concedes Obama Not Most Radical President In History” has no support in the article. That “Barbour opted to tone down the rhetoric just a tad saying there was ‘no doubt”’ Obama was the most left-wing” was no concession.

A massively corrupt, partisan, and propagandistic “mainstream” news media helped the President to beat another lefty, Hillary Clinton, in the primaries. The Republicans nominated Senator Bad. Many people voted for Senator Much Worse because they wanted so much to treat people fairly and favorably, regardless of their group identifications. It happens that the first person with black African genes is deeply bigoted, ignorant, hate-filled, and foolish, as with most on the American left. And he is by far the most radical and left-wing of our Presidents, even more than Woodrow Wilson and FDR. Who can argue otherwise? With what facts?

Yeah, we know all about FOX News.
