Tim Tebow 2nd Super Bowl Ad As Uncontroversial As First
Earlier today we brought you Part 1 of the much-hyped Tim Tebow pro-life Superbowl ad featuring the college ball superstar and his mom, Pam Tebow, who said she had been advised to abort Tebow as a baby after complications with her pregnancy, but had refused, and voila, a Heisman Trophy winner was born. Read all about that here. After all the pre-show hoopla (read: PR for Focus on the Family!), the actual ad itself was pretty tame. At least, Part 1 was. What about Part 2, set to air during the game itself?
Well, we now have our answer: Part 2 is just as tame, albeit with a little joke in there about Tim tackling poor Mom. Otherwise it’s pretty adorable, with Pam alluding to “almost losing” Tim but not saying how, and generally talking about worrying about her famous son. Then he pops up and gives her a hug and it’s frankly pretty adorable. Will it drive people to the Focus on the Family website, as encouraged in the final frame of the commercial? Would we even know it was pro-life were it not for the controversy? I’d say the first is more likely. But either way, it’s pretty unshocking. See for yourself below. Either way, Pam Tebow is the real winner here — she’s great on TV and extremely likeable. These Tebows get the media. Wherever Tim ends up in the draft, expect to see more of them — both of them.
…and here’s the first ad:
