Threatening Letter, White Powder Forced Evacuation At Dancing With The Stars

Producers at ABC’s hit show Dancing with the Stars reveal this morning the show’s production was halted Friday when a letter arrived at the show’s Los Angeles studio filled with white powder and a letter making threats.

According to RadarOnline, none of the remaining contestants–including celebrity kid Bristol Palin–was in the building at the time, and Southern California authorities later identified the white substance as talcum powder:

“An envelope containing an unknown substance was delivered to the Dancing with the Stars production office on Friday evening,” an ABC rep said in a statement. “Security and the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department were immediately notified. Measures were taken to secure the area and ensure the safety of personnel.”

Bristol Palin, Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey are the three stars who will be competing in the DWTS finale Monday night, and Bristol has been surrounded by controversy from her first appearance.

They had to evacuate because of Cocaine?

  • tatboy

So I’m sure the media will stay consistant and go into great detail about the crazy and violent nature of the Palin hating Left (Olbermann anyone???) because of this act. Riiiiiigggghhhtt……

  • ChiliPeppersFan

i thought kelly osbourne was voted off already.

So we have wacko that blows up his TV with a gun and threatens his wife over Bristol’s dancing win. Then we have another looney who sends a death threat and white power to Bristol. I guess the left wing media was right, the Tea Party is a dangerous movement. LOL

  • TfT

Radar On-line excuses the behavior of the sick lefties who did this by claiming “controversy” has surrounded Bristol – yup, lefties covering up for more lefties. Typical. I figured mediaite would for sure at least add one editorial line about how absurd and sick the individuals who threatened Bristol are, but I didn’t see it in this column.

    Did you REALLY TfT?

Ahh, yes. No need to be Miss Cleo to predict that this incident would be blamed on the left and indicating how violent they are.

Umm…the article didn’t say this was for Bristol. It just says it was sent to DWTS.

But does Mediaite really need to say how absurd and sick those individuals are? It’s pretty clear.

Well here we go again when there some threat are attack again-ts the left the entire Tea party and Conservative movement is blamed or people like Glenn Beck …but when it’s on the other foot were told we can’t blame the actions of one nut on the left..even though in this case MSNBC and it’s various host have led the charge against Bristol….so if Gleen Beck can be blamed for someones action shouldn’t Ed Shultz?

Just trying to point out the bias in the media toward the conservative minded. Look at what they (MSM) did to the Tea Party if so much as one bad sign showed up at a rally. It was sickening.

  • TfT

Seeing 2012 – of course not; but I thought perhaps I could shame them into writing something about how horrible this young woman has been and is being treated by the haters on the left.

It would be nice if mediaite condemned the actions, but alas, it’s all Bristol’s fault. Typical lefties, blame the innocent and excuse the guilty (as long as the guilty are lefties).

Sources have told afew newspapers that it was addressed to Bristol. Do a search on google news and you will find the quotes and sources.

Yes, no one on the left even noticed that Bristol is Sarah Palin’s daughter, or had any comments about it whatsoever.

I agree. Look, I certainly don’t think the whole of the tea party is represented by the nutty few with the nutty signs. I know a lot of people who would identify as a tea partier, and they’re not crazy at all.

When a right-winger goes off the deep end and commits an act of violence, it is indicative of only that one person and not the right as a whole. We could spend all day coming up with instances of the “other side” being violent and then say, “You see? They ARE violent”, but it gets us nowhere and is just not accurate.

Bristol Palin has done nothing wrong and to see her have threats against her disgusts me as it would disgust any sane human being.

Bristol has been getting death threats for a week now… I think we can safely say it is from those on the left.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas have received death threats and “Dancing with the Stars” has measurably heightened security … sources connected with the show tell TMZ.

We’re told the threats began to come in last week, after Bristol and Mark made the finals. Execs on the show told Mark to stop tweeting because it was inciting people. Mark complied.

Sources connected with the show tell us extra security will be on hand tonight for the show. And, if Bristol and Mark head to New York, execs are talking about breaking format and not doing their interview outside in Times Square — but rather in the studio, where it’s more secure.

TMZ broke the story … a staffer on the show opened a “fan letter” to Bristol on Friday and white powder fell out. Turns out it was talcum powder, but the FBI is investigating nonetheless.

As one source said, “Everyone is genuinely worried. This is a dance competition, and it’s just gotten crazy.”

Naturally no one likes to see this threats go out, but I don’t for one minute believe they are coming from the left.

I think they are coming from people who invest a lot of themselves in reality shows and don’t like the way this particular one is turning out.

In other words… they are people, probably with little or no political tendencies, who are upset with the way the game is being played out. They don’t see Bristol as a Righty, they see her as an untalented dancer and somehow a cheater. (i’m not saying she is, just saying it looks like the game is not about good dancing anymore)

As for this link, the person says he is going to vote for Bristol tonight and yet he didn’t see her or anyone else perform yet.

That says it all really. This show stopped being about dancing the minute Bristol took the stage. The teabloggers made it so.

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

These are the kind of people threatening Bristol…

“This isn’t the first time Dancing With the Stars Erin Andrews has faced a scary situation with an obsessed fan. Last year, the ESPN sportscaster was followed to multiple cities by a stalker who installed a camera in her hotel room and captured nude videos of her. Now, another stalker has been sending threatening emails that speak of murdering her. Still, Andrews refuses to let the death threats keep her out of the running on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.”

People take that show (and other reality shows) very seriously. Nothing to do with politics, unless your a teablogger, then it has EVERYTHING to do with politics.
People have fallen in love with Jennifer Grey and Brandy for their outstanding performances, and I’m sure some of those people are deranged.

This is about the American culture of fandom, not about Republicans and Democrats.

    Bingo!

The millions that watch DWTS are not doing it for political reasons. These losers are in it for the mindless fun. They are snapping because politics are effecting their simple escape.

The unwarranted PDSVictim narrative is getting old.

Absolutely totally disagree. Any fan of the show, who is a conservative, would not be mailing in fake anthrax and calling in death threats. They are liberals who hate the Palins and are pissed she is doing well because she IS a Palin. You can read the evidence all over the DWTS forum. The left is hating on her because of her mom and the *teabaggers*. It is all there in black and white.

“People have fallen in love with Jennifer Grey and Brandy for their outstanding performances, and I’m sure some of those people are deranged.” If people are so in love with Brandy, why did no one threaten Kyle Massey’s life, or mail *anthrax* to him? He beat Brandy, too.

This is not the first season where a fan favorite beat out better dancers. It’s just the first time people have HATED and threatened to kill the fan favorite because they hate her mother.

Erin from ESPN was stalked and harassed before the show, and chose to do with show because of it. Her threats had nothing to do with her appearance on DWTS.

  • writer

I’m sure BFDs comments on Bristol are based solely on her dancing ability, or lack thereof, and the fact that he hates her mother has not influenced his opinion of Bristol’s dancing.

  • PBerg

sarainitaly—-Here’s alittle REAL reality for you.

Comments by Sarah Palin political supporters on one of her many political websites that tell you how to cheat on the votes:

“Same here, 25 votes..voting tonight has been RIDICULOUS..by now I should have about 50 votes but only 25 now..this is insane..you all know what is going on right, the progressive loons crashed the site”

“I’m at 35 and trying to find another source, LOL.”

“I went back on line to cast my last of 35 votes and I got the “page not found” when I voted for B&M. Because I’m not a very trusting person, I decided to use up one vote to vote for someone else. Guess what? It worked with no problem.”

“The phone call voting was MUCH easier then the online..online is IMPOSSIBLE, even though I did get 30 votes in..but its just still overwhelmed right now..I cant even get on the site now”

“I agree just keep voting..just did another 20 votes in online and used up both cells phones for the phone voting”

“don’t we just get 5 votes? i called my 5 already”

“Yes. But, if you have more than one phone, please call it! Or go online and create as many accounts as you can to vote!”

“40 votes for Bristol! Take that you @#$%ake mushroom filled judges”

THIS is the reason that Democrats have learned to hate the Palins. First of all, Momma tweets and facebooks out the phone number every monday, to her cult. Secondly every Right Wing blog urges it’s bloggers to vote, and vote as many times as they can. And when they are at it, it bogs down all the lines. See—THIS is how Republicans in the USA like to hold elections! They are their own ACORN!
Thus, the death threats—and don’t tell me there are not a lot of Independent voters out there outraged at what the Repugs are doing too !

    You got that now?

Here’s alittle REAL reality for you.

The conservative website Hillbuzz.org claimed to have cracked ABC’s online voting system by registering fake emails — resulting in one person claiming to have voted for Palin 300 times in three hours.

But a big name behind the network’s highly-rated dancing competition aid this is impossible.

“It’s possible to register lots of email addresses, but the IP address identifies which computer sent it,”executive producer Conrad Green told the Daily News. “If that does happen, we wipe out [those votes]. We have a number of security checks to identify people trying to multiple vote.”

While he would not reveal specific details for “security purposes,” he said that votes associated with texts, emails and phone calls go through a secure system.

Though a voter may try to use their landline and their cell phone to vote for one contestant more than once, Green said a breakdown of votes shows this is rarely the case.

An ABC spokesman added that an integrity report ensures consistency between votes registered by phone as opposed to email.

After being voted off “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday, pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy told eonline.com that he believed the voting system was flawed because his friends in Philadelphia were not able to get though ABC’s phone lines.

But Green said this is just par of the course on a popular show.

“Local phone services get jammed due to volume, that’s technical limitations due to popularity,” he said. “It’s just the nature of the beast but it affects everyone equally.”

OH BULLSHT! Who the heck are you trying to FOOL?. Bristol has been on DWTS for a couple of months. The Palin hatred started in the fall of 2008. What the hell are you smoking?
