When the Hillary Clinton campaign learned that the San Bernardino shooter’s name was Syed Farook, staffers expressed their disappointment in emails and said it would have been “better” if he had a generically white name.
In one of the hacked emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta released by Wikileaks, a Clinton staffer shared a tweet from MSNBC’s Christopher Hayes announcing that a US citizen named “Sayeed Farouk” (as many outlets initially his name) was believed to be involved in the shooting.
“Damn,” replied spokeswoman Karen Finney.
“Better if a guy named Sayeed Farouk was reporting that a guy named Christopher Hayes was the shooter,” Podesta agreed.
