The View Debates Melania Border Trip: ‘She Was Trying to Self-Deport From the White House’

The View typically records its Friday show shortly after noon on Thursday. The timing of this week’s show meant that they missed out on a story that broke shortly after taping — the controversy over Melania Trump‘s “I REALLY DON’T CARE DO U” jacket, which she wore while en route to tour a border detention facility in Texas.

Nonetheless, the panel had quite a bit to say about the First Lady’s trip south.

“Is this just another case of a wife cleaning up for her husband?” Joy Behar asked her colleagues.

“She’s trolling her husband,” Sunny Hostin said. “Why would she show up?”

Sara Haines relayed a quip from a friend.

“This is the most awkward begin to divorce proceedings that I have ever seen,” she said.

The panel was split. Meghan McCain said she believes Melania’s trip was orchestrated by the White House, and found an unlikely ally in Behar on that point. Haines and Hostin disagreed.

As for guest co-host Ana Navarro

“We all know is this is a very complicated marriage,” she said. “Look. I thought she was trying to self-deport from the White House.”
