Who Is Heather Nauert?

Heather Nauert is briefing reporters at the State Department for the first time Tuesday, in her new role as State Department spokesperson. But just who is the State Department’s new flack?
Nauert comes to the State Department after having spent 15 years in TV journalism. Most prominently, she was an anchor on Fox & Friends. She also spent time with ABC News, where she reported on news in the U.S., and also served as an international correspondent. She reported on the war in Iraq and the genocide in Darfur.
A graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism and Mount Vernon College, Nauert interviewed for the State Department job back in February, but was not officially named until April 24.
Following her February interview, Nauert gave a Twitter plug to Ivanka Trump-brand shoes. Her posts were eventually deleted. The State Department has had to deal with questions previously on having promoted Ivanka Trump’s book on a State Department Twitter account, and also promoted President Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago resort on one of its websites.
