Dem Rep. Supporting a Challenger to Pelosi: The American People Have Been Clear, ‘Time for New Leadership’
Speaking with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday night, Rep. Seth Moulton suggested that the American people are ready for new leadership in the Democratic caucus.
Rep. Marcia Fudge has been mulling over challenging Rep. Nancy Pelosi for the speaker role that Pelosi is confident she will take back when the Democrats once again control the House.
Speaking of Fudge, Moulton told Cuomo he not only supported her bid but stressed Fudge brings something to the table Pelosi does not.
He continued on: “We need someone who can be focused on the future. She is someone that people will look at and say, that’s the future of our party. That’s the future of our country. I don’t think people look at our current leadership and see that right now.”
He further stressed: “It’s time that our caucus leadership represents the American people.”
The Congressman then stressed the American people want change too.
“The American people have been very, very clear, that it’s time for new leadership and we can’t answer that call by reinstalling the same leadership we’ve had since 2006,” he said.
