Fox & Friends Slams Maher ‘Hoping’ for Recession: ‘That’s What Democrats Need in Order to Win?’

The hosts of Fox & Friends Weekend ripped Bill Maher over his comments about hoping for another recession to stop President Trump.

Last night Maher talked about how the economy’s going “pretty well” before saying, “I think one you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy. So please, bring on the recession. Sorry if that hurts people, but it’s either root for a recession or you lose your democracy.”

Pete Hegseth said this is an “unfortunate reality,” saying Democrats are “almost rooting for any bad number they can, because if it’s not bad then it helps Trump.”

“That’s what Democrats need in order to win?” Abby Huntsman asked. “A recession in this country?”

“Lose your job, less wages, do worse, now we’re happy. Welcome to the elites!” Hegseth mockingly said.

Griff Jenkins noted how Maher’s audience applauded and said it’s very representative of people who just want to “root against Trump succeeding” even if it hurts people.

Hegseth added:

“When America fails, jobs go away. Towns go away. Livelihoods go away. And Bill Maher does a show in California––I’ve done it once, it was actually kind of interesting, he’s an interesting guy, it’s a fun show––but those folks on the left coast and the right coast don’t see the world necessarily always the way a lot of you do in middle America.”
