Sarah Sanders Denies That Trump Denied Ongoing Russian Election Meddling

Reporters in the room said President Trump very clearly responded “no” when asked if Russia is still targeting the U.S., but Sarah Sanders said that’s not what happened.

CBS News’ Major Garrett kicked things off by grilling the press secretary over those remarks–-the latest stunner following the Trump administration’s clean-up over the disastrous presser with Vladimir Putin.

Sanders said Trump was “saying ‘no’ to answering questions.”

For the record, after that “no,” Trump went on to talk more about being tough on Russia.

Garrett followed up by saying, “He does believe it is going on.”

Sanders responded, “Well, since there’s currently not an election today, not specifically, but we certainly believe that we are taking steps to make sure they can’t do it again, unlike previous administrations.”

She went on to list a number of examples of actions the Trump administration is taking to stop election meddling, saying the WHite House does believe that the cyber threat exists.
