Trump: I Want to See What Kavanaugh Accuser Has to Say
Before heading to the flood-ravaged areas of the Carolinas on Wednesday, President Trump spoke to reporters, offering new praise of Brett Kavanaugh amid his sexual assault allegations.
There’s a lot of commotion right now about how to proceed with Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court now that his accuser, Christine Ford, is demanding an FBI investigation into her claims before she agrees to testify before the Senate about what she allegedly experienced. When Trump spoke about this today, he said the Senate should “take their course,” though he also grumbled that “it’s very unfair” that they “postponed a major hearing and they are hurting somebody’s life very badly.”
“I would want to see what she has to say, but I want to give it all the time they need, they’ve already given it time. They’ve delayed a major hearing,” Trump said. “This is a very tough thing for [Kavanaugh] and his family, and we want to get it over with, but at the same time we want to give tremendous amounts of time. If she shows up, that would be wonderful. If she doesn’t show up, that would be unfortunate.”
Later in the pool spray, Trump ripped into Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and the Democrats again, saying they should’ve come forward with the allegations against Kavanaugh sooner.
