Breitbart.tv Calls Out Shepard Smith For ‘Erratic And Overly Emotional Editorializing’

video

Now this is the sort of mini-media feud that we can get behind. Last night the editors of Breitbart.tv published a clip of Fox News Shepard Smith reporting a toxic spill in Hungary, exclaiming in his inimitable way “look at that Toxic sludge flowing through the freaking neighborhood!” But in setting up the clip, the editors took a shot at what they deemed to be Smith’s “erratic and overly emotional editorializing.” Shots fired!

The small, yet rather significant comment reads:

We here at Breitbart.tv don’t run stories or reference in any way reports from this show, and because of the history of statements, and erratic and overly emotional editorializing from this anchor we do not and will not trust his judgment.

Why is Breitbart taking at aim at the respected Smith? Perhaps because Smith took aim at Breitbart (and his network of Big sites) during the Shirley Sherrod affair.

“We here at Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons, among them: we didn’t know who shot it, we didn’t know when it was shot, we didn’t know the context of the statement, and because of the history of the videos on the site where it was posted, in short we do not and did not trust the source.”

Fun! Watch the video of the initial report below:

But, but Liberals have been saying that EVERYONE over at Fox is in lockstep with the Right?

  • http://gordonbloyershow.com gordonbloyershow

Smith lies about the oil companies and he is an enviromental wacko.

In other news, Breitbart does not believe that Shep cuts and enhances “film” clips adequately and has recommended FOX “News” hire James O’Keefe as Shep’s producer.

Nothing new here. Smith sneaks in his editorial comments all the time, taking shots at conservatives. Of course it became very obvious during Katrina, he shed any pretense of hard news during that time.

Smith is actually a decent anchor, but since he found fame at Fox, he did what so many others do when they find fame, they begin to think that their opinion matters more than everyone else’s, and hey, they have a microphone.

Smith is really the only true “news” anchor FOX “News” has.

And I’m sure you can name a whole bunch at the other “news” networks, right?

RRK is a divorce attorney and is an expert at lying to juries. If Iris or Box of Rox ever get married he can help them rip off their husbands when the guy figures out they married a crazy woman.

I’m not sure what you mean by a “whole bunch”. Coming immediately to mind are Christiane Amanpour, Ashley Banfield, Dana Bash, Wolfe Blitzer, Erin Burnett, Kirin Chetry, Heidi Collins, Carol Costello, AKatie Couric, Ann Curry, Matt Frei, Lester Holt, Peter Jennings, John King, Katty Kay, Jim Lehrer, Suzanne Malveaux, Robin Meade, Betty Nguyen, Miles O’Brien, Soledad O’Brien, Kelly O’Donnell, Martha Raddatz, John Roberts, Nick Robertson, Martin Savitge, Diane Sawyer, Jake Tapper, Elizabeth Vargas, Zan Verjee, Fredricka Whitfield, Brian Williams.

Harris Faulkner at FOX “News” is a newworthy news personality, as well.

You’re a liar, Marceaux, I mean Blower. I handled family matters for servicemen when I was JAG. I was providing a service to these brave men and their families. That’s a damn bit more than anything you have ever done for anyone in uniform. Not once was a jury involved in any of the divorces. Why are you lying?

  • Mr.Papshmer

And not a single objective person in the bunch… Some are actually laughing stocks.

You’re pretty far gone, dude. Reminds me of any acid flashback. Erin, Matt, Jim, Zan. If they are not objective the grain elevator’s not the highest building in Residue, Alabama.

So what you’re saying then, is that the rest of the names you entered are suspect? Out of thirty two names initially entered, you’ve narrowed it down to (in your opinion) four. And I wasn’t even trying to set you up. You can’t be much of a lawyer, homes.

The only ones who can be called objective without causing fits of laughter are Harris Faulkner and Jake Tapper.

The rest of jokes. Kiran Chetry is a bubblehead who’s there to titillate, as are a number of others on your list.

Amanpour is a strong pro-Islam/anti-Israel partisan.

Jennings is dead. Can’t insult those who disagree with him these days.

Take it easy on the King. After all, he is pushing seventy. I mean, he’d have to be. College, law school, Navy JAG during Vietnam. Like lots of old people, he’s earned the right to be a bit cranky.

Smith is overreactive and erratic especially when it comes to “disasters”. He never misses a chance to bring up BP and has blamed BP for everything from the Gulf spill to swine flu to tornados. He’s nuts.

You got beef with Shep you got beef with me.

It’s amazing how rightards dislike shep because he simply isn’t a tea partier.

If you crazies had it your way, Bill O’Rielly — who at one time was considered far right, would be fired along with Shep, and probably half the people who work in the daytime news the crazies consider, “Rhinos.”

The new far right is going to turn on its own cable channel, like it’s turned on its own party.

I dislike him because he’s a fraud. I don’t care what his politics are, but it’s a joke for him to pretend that he’s “fair and balanced.”

Not at all the case. If I tune into O’Reilly, or Hannity, I know I’m getting partisan commentary. If I tune into what is supposed to be a hard news program, such as “The Fox Report”, journalistic ethics would suggest that the anchor stick to reporting the news, and refrain from adding editorial commentary. In the real world, this doesn’t happen. O’Reilly and Hannity are more “fair and balanced” than Smith, since they don’t hide behind hard news coverage to slip in commentary, it’s all up front, and they _always_ have guests of opposing opinion.

Nice try with your broad brush. The left seems to have many insults and catch phrases memorized, but lack the intellectual ability to actually engage in critical thought.

Wow “Beth” seems you’re quite jealous of Ms. Chetry,
Don’t you think thats being a little catty…MEOW

rumor has it that roger ailes says shes the best at lifting the fat rolls
    come on be fair

I don’t see why this would be meaningful to a news outlet, as Breitbart.tv isn’t a genuine news source, and Breitbart isn’t interested in honest journalism. Ironic that he targets a Fox anchor, of all places.

I saw that article just the other day in the Wall Street Journal.

I have listened to Shepard Smith and I have listended to Andrew Breitbart, I have turned off Breitbart first every time.

Shep is proof that Fox News is ‘fair and balanced’, with Shep’s liberal views.

Jealous of what? She’s exceptionally dim, and had a hissy fit that took her from the top-rated news channel to the lowest. And she took none of her Fox “fans” with her to CNN, showing just how shallow her appeal truly is.

Learn to read. That’s not at all what I said. In fact, you’re trying to make me defend the opposite of what I said.

    Typical leftist tactic.

We’re all so concerned, at this point in time, about our political problems; however, what countries are doing to our environment is, not only shocking, but a reason for real concern. At the rate the world is destroying itself, soon there will be nothing more to worry about, man will no longer exist, things are happening faster than ever, the planet cannot recover at this rate. What is the UN doing about events like these? It seems the only country that tries to clean up other peoples’ messes is the United States. Get our men out of all of these countries and start to monitor our own. God Bless America!
