Nineteen Lessons the Democrats Need to Learn from the Election Defeat of 2010

    1. Don’t pass bills without reading them.

    2. When a political party takes its cues from Comedy Central, it is unlikely to win the next election.

    3. You don’t create prosperity by spending money you don’t have. That’s how you create poverty.

    4. Don’t hold a town hall meeting if you don’t want to hear what voters have to say.

    5. Businesses, not government, are the source of productive jobs.

    6. You don’t fix industries by giving them 3,000 pages of new regulations.

    7. You can’t create jobs while punishing the people who do the hiring.

    8. Borrowing another $100 billion every month from the Chinese is not a solution to any problem.

    9. Elections are won by attention to the issues, not by character attacks, smears and jokes.

    10. Don’t promise the voters transparency if you plan to govern via backroom deals.

    11. People won’t hire and expand their businesses if they don’t know what their tax rates will be next year.

    12. When you constantly accuse people who disagree with you of racism, you destroy your own credibility, not theirs.

    13. Don’t brag about how many jobs you’ve created when everyone can see that the unemployment rate is rising.

    14. When voters ask for government accountability and fiscal responsibility, politicians should not respond with ridicule—unless they want to be thrown out of office in the next election.

    15. If you turn the home mortgage into a welfare entitlement, don’t be surprised when the loans aren’t repaid.

    16. When you spend your energy trying to silence your political opponents, it’s a sign that you’ve already lost the argument.

    17. Don’t tell us “we have to pass the healthcare bill to find out what’s in it.”

    18. People figured out long ago that free stuff from the government isn’t really free. Don’t insult their intelligence.

    19. It’s the economy, stupid.

  • Arkansas Steve

    WOW, Steve Krakauer.
You did this story in an outstandish mannerism.
I think, for the most part, I’ll just keep fresh batteries in my remote & change channels a lot.

  • Arkansas Steve

I suggest everyone read Felix’s comment above, oh, about 6 times !!

  • writer

I’ll try to catch Olbermann. Seeing him turn red and start foaming at the mouth and writhing on the floor is entertaining as hell.

  • teb

Thank you for the MSNBC information with Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow, Schultz and the rest of the idiots. If I contract brain damage between now and tomorrow night, I can drool all over myself while I listen to these brain stems cry and complain about how Fox News cost them the election.

  • cmdrgmh

Counting your chickens before they’re hatched. Remarkable.

    maybe he’ll finally pass that
kidneystone that he has seemed to be dealing with for awhile..

  • Moderate

I will DVR MSNBC in case Olbermann has a breakdown, I will have a record of it.

Leave room on you disc for Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz. They will be as equally funny. In the meantime I will be watching the All-GOP/All-Tea Party Channel for a glimpse of Fox News’s anchorettes.

  • Big Eddie

    Where’s Rick Sanchez ??

  • The Real Royal King

I think I’ll split screen CNN and MSNBC until NBC proper comes on. I would have split screen CNN and ABC, but not with that ueber liar and fraud Breitfart doing commentary. ABC should be ashamed.

Ha good one, I have never heard anyone use Breitfart before. I can’t wait for tomorrow when all of these brainstem republicans all lose and go back to their holes

  • Morgan

And when you vote, it might be wise to vote as if your job depended on it.

When I think back, the mistakes Obama has been making have been mistakes from the lack of experience. If he had the experience, with his talent, he could have been a good president.

His first mistake was that he should have been Hillary’s VP–good for eight years. That would have given him the experience to be a decent president. Then he would have been a shoe-in for another eight years as president. Think about it. Sixteen years with the Democrats in control of the White House.

A year ago with his and Pelosi/Reed ram-rodding Congress, he created so much ill will that the Republicans thought they would have a chance of a strong comeback in 2010…. but that would be a whole year away. A year is an eternity in politics… no chance.

Surprise! Obama, the gift that keeps on giving kept piling it on (still not learning) and has the Democrats on the verge of disaster. Just think of it. Your president, the president of his constituency, has divided the country and instead of sixteen years of Democrat control, in two years…. look where this man has lead you!

  • WildMan

It’ll be fun to see the spin Chris, Keith and Rachael put on the Tuesday Tsunami. I’ll have to break away from the NO Spin, Fair and Balanced, REAL NEWS cable network, FOX News for a minute or two, and flip over to see how badly the Three Stooges are taking it. Hopefully, it’ll be at a time that Ed is at the casino bar and not whining on the air. Maybe Lawrence O’Donnell can bring some sanity and maturity to the MSNBC election coverage. It should be a great night for all of us Conservative Independents.

It’s part of the Democratic GOTV effort.
As is “John Boehner: 2nd in line for the Presidency!!!”
