Soundbite: Fox News Bias Obvious To “Anybody With Eyes And Ears”

obama.smoker“To point out that this network is different, that it is intensely politicized, that it inhabits an alternate reality defined by an imaginary conflict between noble heartland patriots and devious liberals—to be aware of these things is not the act of a scheming dictatorial personality. It is the obvious conclusion drawn by anybody with eyes and ears.”

–Thomas Frank, Wall Street Journal

In a blistering Journal op-ed today, What’s The Matter With Kansas? author and liberal political commentator Thomas Frank came down on the side of the White House in the seemingly never-ending Fox News/Obama battle. He slammed the network for continually making the Obama=Nixon analogy, pointing out that what made Nixon infamous was his scorched-earth policy with respect to his enemies, and dismissed Fox as indulging in “persecution fantasy.” But Frank doesn’t exactly come out rooting for Obama, either; he criticizes his “heavy-handed,” overly dire approach to the conflict for giving Fox easy opportunities to counterattack.

Mr. Frank is obviously right on both points, but his book is brilliant. How poor people vote against their own self interests is tragically fascinating.

The idea the Republican Party has looked out for anyone other than the rich and powerful the last hundred years is utterly ludicrous.

Yup… no rich and powerful supporters in the Democratic party. Nuh-uh. Not a single one. No special interests either.

Oy-vey. The only thing sadder than the people who say that one party is this different than the other… is the people who believe them.

Such short-sighted selective CRAP! Fox is biased? Hannity and Beck openly present themselves as conservatives. Don’t like it? Switch back to Olbermann and .Maddow.

Q: Why is that liberals can only name-call and piss and moan about Fox? A: They can dispute the FACTS reported on Fox.

According to (consistent) Gallup polling, 40% of the U.S. consider themselves conservative. That 40% has ONE television network to turn to…Fox. Who can sanely dispute that ABC, CBS, NBC/MSNBC, CNN/HLN lean left? (Free Clue: That’s why Obama Inc. won’t attack them.)

The richest people in the U.S. are in fact Democrat. Who’d a thunk it? It’s increasingly apparent that the Democrat party is comprised almost exclusively of guilt ridden rich people–who demand that others redistribute THEIR wealth–and poor people (the base) who know no way of life other than a monthly government check.

Both parties cater to the wealthy. Both lie, both steal and both will do literally anything to win.

I am proudly No Party Affiliation. Fox is just the mirror of MSNBC. They have their audience and they serve it well as does MSNBC, et al.

Phisch’s point is spot on. Conservatives have one TV news outlet to turn to. Liberals have the rest. That is a simple fact and the reason for Fox’s success.

i’ve heard the Obama = Nixon comparison a lot lately…funny thing though, not from FOX.

(I’m with Blue, Phisch and Keeva on this one.)

“Deem And Pass”: Getting To Know Today’s Political Buzzword

Some have called it the "slaughterhouse rule." Others say "self-executing rule." One Democratic Congressmen on FNC called it a "self-implementing rule." But here's what you need to know about the new possible strategy by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pass health care reform, known as "deem and pass."

Jon Stewart Goes After Political Sex Scandals And Hypocrisy

    video

This is the reason why Jon Stewart and The Daily Show deserve all the accolades they receive: they take a topic that would be so very banal in the hands of any one else, and make it far more entertaining and informative with their own treatment. In this instance the topic is political sex scandals and the associative and hypocritical rhetoric that follows
