Colbert Mocks Fox News And Blogger Dean Chambers For ‘Unskewing’ Polls Showing Obama Ahead

On Thursday, host Stephen Colbert took a look at Fox News’ “unskewing” of poll results favoring President Barack Obama over Mitt Romney. The network had said the race is actually much closer when one isolates voters who are “extremely interested in the election.”

Colbert pointed out that Romney tied Obama among the “inexpressibly intrigued,” and is even up two point among those who are “psychotically engaged.” Plus, as several Fox News contributors point out, the polls could even have oversampled Democrats.

Good thing, then, for conservative blogger Dean Chambers, who noted that the poll results “just didn’t look right” and so set out to fix them by, as Colbert put it, “skewing them in favor of Romney.” Former presidential hopeful Rick Perry Tweeted his relief over Chambers’ “unskewing” of the numbers, a relief Colbert shared, pointing out that, had we been presented unskewed results earlier in this election, Perry would have been out of the race much sooner.

Luckily, Fox News conducted a poll of its own, asking its viewers which candidate would be more likely to take Ohio. Here’s how that turned out:

And here are Colbert’s own poll questions:
