Pres. Obama Asked If Legalizing Drugs And Prostitution Can Stimulate The Economy

obama_12-4Pres. Barack Obama held a job-related town hall in Pennsylvania today, and when it came time to take questions, he got one very unique one from a college sophomore who has “been studying some criminology.”

What do you think, Mr. President? Ready to legalize drugs and prostitution?

Here’s the question: “I was wondering maybe if you’ve checked out some of the statistics about legalizing prostitution, gambling, drugs and non-violent crime in order to stimulate some of the economy.”

It got some cheers and a lot of chatter from the crowd, and Obama was not just teleprompter-less but talking point-less as well. He began, “I have to say this. Well, uh, I appreciate the boldness of your question. That will not be my job strategy.”

After some more laughter from the crowd, Pres. Obama reached his conclusion: “First of all, part of what you’re supposed to do at college is question conventional wisdom, so you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing, which is thinking in new ways about things.”

Beck-bait ultra-liberal soundbite crisis averted. At least it proves there weren’t friendly plants in the audience!

Here’s the Q&A from today:

Obama’s too moderate. If he was liberal, he’d at least consider one of those policies.

It’s ironic that young people got attracted to Obama because he was of a new, younger generation. Like Howard Fineman said, it’s “almost like a dog whistle, older people don’t hear it but the kids do” (paraphrasing). They made him get elected.

Yet there’s no more clear divide between generations within Obama supporters as marijuana legalization. Younger people are clearly, clearly in favor of this – but Obama was clearly born a couple of years or at least a decade too early to be within the bracket of folks who want to legalize it.

I’m pretty sure there’s no federal prohibition of gambling and prostitution, though there are some federal laws concerning drugs. Otherwise, I’m not sure about legalizing “non-violent crime”.

With all the Marxist and Socialist Czars that have been appointed, one can never sweep this question under the table with the Obama administration. They are doing some bizzare things now and this is not to far fetched from reality.

Magister – definitely no fed prohibition. Think Vegas.

Tater – have you ever heard of an oxymoron? A Socialist Czar is a contradiction of itself.
