Obama Hugs Ebola-Free Nurse: ‘Let’s Give a Hug for the Cameras’

President Obama met with now Ebola-free nurse Nina Pham in the White House Friday after she was released from hospital care in the Washington, D.C. area.

A White House pool report of the greeting says only still photographers were allowed in the Oval Office for the meeting but some of the photographers who were in the room described the incident to CQ Roll Call‘s Steven T. Dennis:

Obama hugged Pham after the president said something to the effect of “Let’s give a hug for the cameras” – according to two photographers allowed into the Oval. Photos show Pham with a radiant smile. Photographers say they didn’t see a kiss but said hug was a full embrace.

Pham contracted Ebola last month in Texas after treating a man who had the virus.
