Schumer Tells Trump to ‘Stop Blaming Puerto Rico’ in Response to Budget Comment

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed President Trump this afternoon over comments he made while in Puerto Rico today.

During the hurricane briefing, the President said, “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’re throwing our budget a little out of whack, because we’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico, and that’s fine, we’ve saved a lot of lives.”

Trump was slammed online for that comment, and Schumer said today in response to his remarks, “Mr. President, enough. Stop blaming Puerto Rico for the storm that devastated their shores, roll up your sleeves, and get the recovery on track.”

“I don’t remember the President telling Texas that they blew our budget out of whack after Harvey,” he added, “or Florida after Irma.”
