On Thursday, Jeff Sessions seemed to walk back his awkward, recent involvement in chants to throw Hillary Clinton in prison.
The Attorney General attracted significant attention earlier this week when he briefly echoed “lock her up” chants that broke out while he spoke at a conservative event for high schoolers. When asked about this on Thursday, Sessions noted the spontaneousness of the Trump rally cry, but he seemed to acknowledge the possibility that he could’ve handled the situation better.
“I perhaps should have taken a moment to advise them that … you’re presumed innocent until cases are made.”
Sessions concluded by saying he enjoyed the event, which he used to speak against safe spaces and conservative censorship on college campuses.
