A Third Los Angeles Elementary School Teacher Implicated In Sexual Abuse Scandal
As MSNBC’s Mike Taibbi reported today, a third Miramonte Elementary School teacher has been implicated in a wave of alleged sexual abuse at the South Los Angeles school. You’ll recall that — in an unprecedented move — the school board has already planned to replace Miramonte’s entire staff this week following an investigation into the actions of two of its teachers, both accused of sexually abusing students at the school.
According to an attorney for one of the plaintiffs involved in the case, a third teacher — whom MSNBC has not named, as there is currently no confirmation that this person is to be formally charged — is said to have “participated” in the acts allegedly committed by teacher Mark Berndt.
In addition, The Los Angeles Times is reporting that one of the alleged victims of the second teacher, Martin Springer, has now recanted her story:
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing, said one of two two alleged victims had changed her story in the last few days.
Springer has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
