Richard Painter Goes Off After Russia Indictments: ‘This Is a Lot More Serious Than Watergate’

During a segment on the Russia indictments today, former Bush White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter said on CNN, “This is a lot more serious than Watergate.”

He argued, “Watergate did not involve the Russians, they didn’t use the KGB to break into the Watergate complex there. It’s a lot more dangerous for our national security what happened here.”

Painter went on to say the Trump Tower meeting “was collusion” and “the only question is whether it’s illegal collusion.”

Last year after the initial reports about James Comey‘s notes from his meeting with President Trump, Painter said, “Nixon may have been a crook, but at least he was our crook.”
