Richard Linklater’s New Political Ad Mocks Ted Cruz’s Preference of White Castle Over What-A-Burger

Richard Linklater is back with another political ad, this one mocking Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) over his fast food preferences.

The film director and his frequent collaborator, Sonny Carl Davis, have been working with the Fire Ted Cruz Pac to mock the senator’s “Tough as Texas” mantra ahead of the midterm elections. Yesterday, the two released a new video that takes aim at Cruz for his love of White Castle.

“A triple-meat What-A-Burger liberal? What does that even mean, Ted? Everybody I know in Texas likes What-A-Burger,” Davis says. “There’s not a White Castle within 900 miles of Texas, Ted. Maybe up in Canada, huh? But not in Texas.”

The “Canada” remark harkens back to the 2016 election, when Cruz was attacked for being born outside of America and, therefore, possibly ineligible for the presidency as naturalized citizen. President Trump was among those who attacked Cruz on this front, and Linklater’s recall may not exactly be surprising since his last ad made fun of Cruz’s submissiveness to Trump after their grueling tete-a-tete.
