Obama’s Final Push On Health Care To Democratic Caucus On Capitol Hill

video

President Barack Obama spoke in the conference hall of the Capitol today about the health care reform bill which is coming close to meeting enough votes to pass in the House of Representatives, which earlier today decided not use the “deem and pass” strategy to railroad the bill through Congress. “I know this is a tough vote for some of you,” said our president, adding “Don’t do it for Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid, or me. Do It for the American People.” Pay attention folks, this speech is definitely one for the history books.

Obama’s Speech:

This was clearly one of the most passionate speeches Obama has given since arriving in the Oval Office, and I would just like to point out the absence of script, teleprompter, or notes written on the president’s hand.

Drew, might I suggest a napkin to wipe your drool?

  • Azarkhan

Yes, 15 years from now, after the cost of nationalized health care has become crushing, morons like us will google this speech to find out just what the fuck President Obama was thinking when he laid this shit on us.

(BTW, it sure is refreshing to see a CNN clip. I thought all you guys ran was Fox! I mean, the name MEDIAite, not FOXite. Just messin’ with you-I know how ya’ll be!)

After a many years of debate, Healthcare will finally be the Law of the Land, a well deserved win for the American people!

S***z**, hit me with that laser beam-

But shoot it in the right direction
Make making it your intention-ooh yeah
    Live those dreams
    Scheme those schemes
    Got to hit me
    Hit me
Hit me with those laser beams

I’m not going to preload the clip to get to the end, so I don’t know how far it goes or how long the other outlets stayed with it after the speech. But, I watched it live via cbsnews.com and though I had already started looking at another window once it was over, someone… it sounded like the President chanted into the mic, “fired up” to which the caucus-goers responded, “ready to go”.

    Nice touch.

mcf: “a well deserved win for the American people!”

Now, now, aren’t we being a teensy weensy bit presumptuous? Shouldn’t we wait at least 5 years? That’s how long Massachusetts universal health care has existed. And just how is the home of that DEVIL CLAN THE KENNEDY’S faring with cost containment?

“[Massachusetts] seeks ways to fill a nearly $4 billion gap in its 2010 budget.”

What?!? They don’t have the fucking money? Oh, right, they get subsidized by the U.S. government. Well, now there’s a solution! We just need to find someone to subsidize health care for all of America!

Democrats are about to go down in history for going down in November.

  • mcf1757

Take that up with Republican Mitt Romney, Azarkhan!

  • marcus.lewis

Better to go down with a huge accomplishment than minor reforms that health insurance companies will skirt.

Republicans will be in trouble when they no longer have the BS excuse that we are leading towards socialism, and there are death panels. When grandma doesn’t get the plug pulled and more people are able to access affordable health care, Republicans should be shameful for spreading lies.

  • WaterLoo

I agree Marcus, let them know when you hit the “Doctor” button and all the new doctors magically appear from your magic genie lamp for the additional ~30M American’s on healthcare.

  • marcus.lewis

    @waterloo

Those 30M Americans uninsured do see doctors, it is just that they only see them in the ER and it then becomes a huge expense passed on to people who do pay insurance. The costs for indigent care is passed on to those who pay for health care via higher premiums, increased taxes, etc. My brother works as an EMT/Firefighter in rural poor areas and people call them for health care needs that have deteriorated to the point where now they have to go to the ER just to save their life.

  • WaterLoo

Oh, Oh, almost forgot, be sure to hit the “decreased cost” button too, therefore once we add an additional ~30M Americans (who can’t afford healthcare), the cost of healthcare will decrease.

  • marcus.lewis

Well I see you are an oracle and already know that the CBO is lying.

  • WaterLoo

Thanks Marcus, I have extensive knowledge of ER’s, in particular the billing for doctors in ER’s for hospitals from Hawaii to New York. While ER doctors MUST see all patients (including the uninsured), once this bill is passed they won’t be going to ER’s for care any longer, they’ll go to specialized doctor offices which will be overwhelmed with new patients (no need to worry about rationing my A$$). Furthermore, not ALL ~30M uninsured go to the ER. They simply don’t go anywhere. Once those “self pay” (uninsured) are added (under the new legislation) and do go to the ER, the ADDITIONAL cost will be incurred, and they will be passed on, and you and I will be paying for it, this is inevitable.

  • WaterLoo

An oracle? No, but thanks I appreciate the compliment. An accountant? Yes. Is the CBO lying? No. Are they using bad assumptions and accounting gimmicks? Yes, most certainly. Are you familiar with something called “double counting”?
