Shirley Sherrod Has No Job, But Somehow These People Are Still Employed
One week after Shirley Sherrod was unceremoniously forced to resign from her position at the USDA following the posting of an edited clip of a speech she made on Andrew Breitbart‘s Big Government site, she still does not have a job. Of all the people involved in this shameful debacle it remains stunning that Sherrod is the only one who finds herself unemployed.
Then again, there are plenty of people populating the American political and media landscape whose continued employment at times remains a mystery. In the last year or so particularly the idea that a person might resign over something like marital infidelity, be it on the Appalachian Train or Buenos Aires, has gone from a given to not necessarily necessary. In recognition of this shift here a selection of the of people who are still employed.
Mark Sanford (1 of 10)
Mark Sanford simultaneously set the standard for what politicians might hope to get away with while in office, and marked the turning point where they were somehow allowed to get away with it. Sanford, who famously took off for Argentina with his mistress while telling his staff he was hiking the Appalachian trail, remains Governor of South Carolina. Meanwhile his wife Jenny has morphed into the poster child for political wives who have no desire to stand by their man.
