Stephen Colbert Announces ‘March To Keep Fear Alive’

video

Shortly after Stephen Colbert appeared on The Daily Show to “challenge” Jon Stewart ‘s announcement of a “Rally To Restore Sanity” event last night, it appears that he must have hustled back to the Colbert Report studio a few blocks away to announce his own event planned for the same date and location: The “March to Keep Fear Alive” is Colbert’s attempt to beat back Stewart’s reason, and keep the “truthiness” flame alive.

The following clip proves without a shadow of a doubt that Stepen Colbert and Jon Stewart are at the top of their game. The better question is, which specific game is it of which we speak? Because there is a lot going on in this cavalcade of satirical and comedic performance that somehow combines both the highest and lowest forms of entertainment. Yes, I am gushing.

This segment has everything: Hilarious chroma-key comedy bit? check. Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana? Check. Surprise cameo appearance by Jon Stewart that impossibly evokes both an Hispanic soap opera AND a Pro Wrestling “fight”? Check! Above all else, Stewart and Colbert demonstrate how their talent goes beyond their whip-smart understanding of political media by deconstructing (or is it reconstructing) it so well. They also remind us how talented they are as performers. Well done.

It has the potential to be the ultimate troll.

Good luck, Colbert. Remember, successful troll is successful.

Is there anyone on the Right with a sense of humor? That in itself is reason to keep them out of power

I have a sense of humor, Make me laugh Colbert… I’m waiting…Hmmm its just not working. Oh well… I guess I’ll just blame it on the fact my maturity level is above that of a three year old…. Now thats Funny! Bwaaaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…..

Burnnotice says: “You watch Glen Beck? gee, how would I ever know….”

No, I watch Glenn Beck. He denounces racism; how come you won’t?

Oh, right. Libertarians won’t take a stand on morally bankrupt ideas.

The KKK want to march to MLK’s memorial when it’s completely, I’m sure that you’re just fine with that because you’re a “Libertarian.”

What does it take to make you condemn someone’s behavior, Burnnotice?

Is your “Libertarianism” completely devoid of ethical positions w/r/t private citizens?

  • The Real Royal King

This says as much as the restoring sanity counterpart, doesn’t it.

The Court Jesters – Colbert & Stewart – continue to spew their Professional Left mantras to their vacuous audience…..to no noticeable effect!!!

    - PROOF comes Nov. 2, 2010!!!

    heh- heh- heh!!!

Burnnotice says: ” I’ll just blame it on the fact my maturity level is above that of a three year old.”

Just barely: Comports with your political philosophy. Libertarianism is the philosophy for our country when it was just born and worked well until it (we) became irresponsible teens. That’s when the adults (progressives) stepped in to curb the excesses of corporate America and began to protect the public interest from private greed.

I wouldn’t call Stewart or Colbert ‘professional left’. And their audience is more informed than any other, so they are hardly vacuous.

Isn’t Colbert a professional reactionary who is portrayed by a professional, moderate comedian named Colbert?

You so messed up I don’t know where to begain. Its like someone wanting their house repainted. but the entire structure has been condemned for years…..

Dude If you like Totalitarianism go for it! I like freedom. So do a lot of other people in the world. You want to be a little Hitler. You have my blessing. Good luck finding friends….

Now lets see if we can find ourselves a real comedian with some REAL Libertarian views….

Their top comedians are Larry the Cable Guy and Dennis Miller. That says it all…..

    It’s “this moron *doesn’t* need a march.”

  • http://sharethisurlaboutglennbeck.com/ GlennBeckReview

Burnnotice says: “Dude If you like Totalitarianism go for it! I like freedom.”

Dud, you would make a great replacement for Beck who also distorts the progressive agenda. No one is supporting totalitarianism.

The difference in practical politics and policy is that Libertarians want to unleash the large corporations upon Americans who don’t stand a chance against corporate power and dominance. Progressives prefer to keep the leash on corporations, not individuals.

Freedom for the left is freedom for everyone, not just those who can afford freedom once the corporations do their part to destroy lives either directly (toxic working conditions) or indirectly (gambling with mortgages). If any “structure has been condemned for years,” it’s the structure of laissez-faire economics. The working people, hell the American people (aside from Beck’s mislead millions) do not want to return to the 19th Century no matter how much Beck fake-cries for that America.

  • http://sharethisurlaboutglennbeck.com/ GlennBeckReview

“Need I point out that ‘reason’ is one letter away from ‘treason?’” Colbert asks.

No wonder Beck disdains reason and prefers faith. Jefferson is my fav founding father, and Beck’s misquote of him goes up me a mile. For Beck to twist Jefferson’s understanding that if there is a God he would “more approve of the homage of reason” into the idea that Beck has that God would “rather honest questioning….” Honest questioning is not respect of reason.

I suspect Beck lies about this quote because Beck himself does not respect reason; Beck respects faith. That Beck misquotes Jefferson like that – often – makes me wonder how anyone who respects reason would listen to him.

    Oh, right; they don’t!

  • Nachi

Without fear, the GOPsters could not exist.

  • dahni

I’m a little concerned about their definition of ‘insanity’ and ‘reason’ . I find Dennis Miller much funnier than either ot them, most of the time. I will be interested in seeing who shows up and what they have to say as related to Beck and MLK.

And now that the game is over, the 2nd stringers go onto the field–but the fans have all gone home.
