Bill O’Reilly To Rapper Lupe Fiasco: ‘President Obama Is Not A Terrorist’

Video

Rapper Lupe Fiasco, né Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, appeared on The O’Reilly Factor tonight to discuss recent statements he made calling President Barack Obama, and, indeed, U.S. foreign policy as a whole, as promoting terrorism. The interview culminated, as one might have expected, in a shouting match between Fiasco and host Bill O’Reilly about the very nature of the so-called war on terror.

“And it’s really just an expression,” Fiasco explained, “of me trying to, I guess, understand critically, you know, the society.”

“You know, President Obama is not a terrorist,” said O’Reilly. “He’s trying to do what he believes is the right thing to do.”

Indeed, much of the segment involved O’Reilly teaching Fiasco – either helpfully or condescendingly (“What you said is fallacious. That means it’s wrong.”) or some combination of the two – about the intricacies of our war in Afghanistan and on the impact his opinions may have on his younger, more impressionable listeners.

“I don’t think politics are as complex as people make them out to be,” suggested Fiasco, adding that he believes the “root cause of terrorism” should be more adequately addressed.

No, he’s not a terrorist, but he does like to hang with them.

O’Rellly defends Obama. Just as Maddow and Olbermann often defended Bush.

Okay, they never defended Bush. But you can’t judge propagandists on the same standards one might apply to a political commentator such as O’Reilly.

At MSNBC, ideology always trumps every other consideration — so Olbermann or Maddow could never defend Bush, no matter what the circumstances. And this encapsulates the enormous gap between Fox News and MSNBC.

It’s too bad that Fox edits these interviews, but even though they did, Lupe still won. But this was cut to shit.

  • Colorado_Conservative

Depends on one’s interpretation of the word terrorist!
Bill Clinton gave many interpretations of the word “sex”…and “it”…..but if it means that Obama is destroying this Country then…. hey…. come to you own conclusion!!

  • Thelonious Funk

Wars are only justifiable under the presidency of a certain political party. What’s so hard about that?

  • BFD

Geez, that was a train wreck.

O’Reilly was right, Lupe just tried to simplify everything.

Bill needs to stop complaining that Fiasco is “influencing impressionable youngsters” though.
A man has a right to be stupid w/o O’Reilly going into ‘WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!! WILL YOU THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?” mode.

  • http://www.zazzle.com/talkingpoints NORBIT Jr.

So, is Bush or Obama the first WAR PRESIDENT of the 21st Century?
    LMAO!

    What happened Progressives?

    WHERE’S THE OUTRAGE, YOU HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!

  • da-wdc

Put anyone who’s not a hip hop artist on O’Reilly’s show and have them say the same thing – we invaded Afghanistan to get bin Laden after 9/11 – and nobody will bat an eye at this perfectly reasonable statement. I think they expected Lupe Fiasco to go all Mike Malloy on them in the interview so they could call him a crazy extremist and so on, and were disappointed because he didn’t give them much to work with.

Bill, Listen to the young man and throw all your degrees etc etc away.. People are not stupid and this hiding behind “Terrorist” to push America into wars for corporations and control of world dominance has to come to an end. America has placed it’s hands out to far and someone needs to pull them back.

We have plenty of resources, why shed blood for more.. especially when it comes from his age group..
we have extended our empire far enough for the greedy..it’s time to fix things on the Homefront.

Change… I wont Mention the best change would be Ron Paul..

Two of his policies: End the foreign wars we have no business in and end the war on drugs which has thrown money away and has gotten nowhere..except to imprison 2.5 million Americans over petty stuff no one cares about. Legalize and let the black market dry up already!! Taxes can be raised through this and Medical help can be applied to those who already fail in their choice anyways. Hemp, was a major product till it became an illegal product..follow the money and realize why that it.

Lupe Fiasco needs to study and listen to Ron Paul more. He’s close to understanding something, but he can’t quite put it all together yet.

I can’t stand Bill O’reilly and his pompous, arrogant attitude. He thinks he’s so damn smart. He loves to claim things are more complex as a way to diffuse someone from attempting to simplify things down and illustrate how he’s wrong.

In many ways, O’rielly reminds me of a useless intellectual who probably hates philosophical arguments based on principles of right and wrong. He’d RATHER over-complicate and play God because he thinks he’s so gdam smart. I can’t stand him.

We need to bring our troops home from around the world because we have no moral right to force anything on the people of Libya if THEY have not authorized THEIR government to attack us. Same for Iraq. Same for Afghanistan. Same for Yemen. Same for Venezuela, Same for Iran, Same for Cuba. Same for everyone. I cannot kill my neighbor preeminently, therefore I cannot declare war on a nation imminently without being the immoral invader.

We are wrong on much of this and people like BILLO are leading people the wrong way.

Oh, and Bill, the Presidents #1 job is to protect the constitution. Not to “protect us” with wars of aggression and military intervention.

Our leaders’ #1 job is to defend and uphold the constitution because it protects the least among us.

Yeah, Dubya handed it to him in magnificent shape.

  • Just4thefax

Fact: Fiasco, NAACP and Farrakhan just missed the riots that they wished would happen so their people could get free stuff. That’s the rap of it.

  • robbie

Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Libya.. A whole bunch of fresh hate creation for future generations, awesome.

What you describe here is true isolationism and that is whats totaly wrong. There is a history of it being disastrous and if that dont work for you, there is always common sense. When you have a declared enemy and know where it is, you have a right to go kill it.

I think you meant “Preemptively?” Preemptive strikes are the greatest. A preemptive stike is the only thing that would have stopped 9/11. A preemptive strike could have averted WWII. One certainly saved a lot of innocent civilians in 1967. All thats needed for justification is knowledge of a true enemy with sincere desire to do you harm.

I agree with you on Lybia. But Iraq and especially Afghanistan? There’s something terribly wrong with people that think like you. The greatest proof that preemptive strikes rule? Liberals are against them.

I understand the room for debate in regards to Iraq. But you people who invoke Afghanistan? We didn’t have the right to go fight our enemy in there?

Since Rapper Lupe Fiasco, né Wasalu Muhammad Jaco does not like Obama’s policies….

You might be what you accuse him of, so just playing the race card to hide your own ignorance.

    I think that’s a darn good assessment.

If a Conservative disagrees with President Obama’s policies, then you lefties like to play the RACE card.

To follow the lefty logice then since Rapper Lupe Fiasco, né Wasalu Muhammad Jaco disagrees with the President, he too must be a RACIST! Correct?

  • Azarkhan

Lupe Fiasco’s views on why the US invaded Afghanistan were about what I expected: uninformed and naive.

Practicing Demagoguery . Keep doing it, lets see where it takes ya.

  • Skippy

    SHUT UP, BILLDO!

Time and time and time again you’ve shaken your Billdo in anger BECAUSE “President Obama is working towards destroying the economy and therefore reshape the country”

    You remember THAT ONE, Billdo?!

  • Dem4Ever

It is interesting as well as telling that the author of this piece never defended the presisdent against Fiasco’s allegation that Obama is a terrorist.

  • writer

So even when Bill agrees with Obama, the left has to blast him.

  • writer

No comments from the left about Lupe calling Obama a terrorist?

  • felixw

    writer said:

Same thing happened a few days ago when O’Reilly said David Vitter should resign. Rachel Maddow did a whole segment attacking O’Reilly for agreeing with her(!!!) This is when you know that you are dealing with propagandists and not normal people. Normal people judge situations on their merits. Propagandists know what conclusion they must reach even if it means ignoring all the facts at hand.

  • Shuleba

It’s tiresome watching O’reilly do interviews. His patronizing condescending attitude with his guest is insulting to all viewers

  • purveyor

I watched this interview (in name only) as it was a reasoned and articulate man, (Oreilly) trying carry on a conversation with man man eating raw onions and garlic. (Fiasco)

There was nothing Oreilly could do except let the time run out and then move on.

What is curious though, is that ‘Fiasco’ actually takes himself and his opinion seriously.

  • billwhit1357

Why is an idiot rapper even news? Send him back to his Ghetto!
