Fox News Satellite Cuts Off Democrat’s “Final Word” On Health Care

video

During a Fox News debate on health care yesterday afternoon, satellite problems prevented Congressman Joe Sestak (D-PA) from taking advantage of his final word, proving to be a rather unfortunate coincidence for a network constantly battling claims of political bias. It’s funny, really, to imagine the cosmic interference at play here as Sestak’s views on health care literally cannot be heard.

The Republican Congressman Trent Franks remarks that Americans understand that when you replace “free enterprise with a socialist system” then it “always costs more.” Then, Congressman Sustak gets 20 seconds for the “final word” and well… his face freezes, the screen flickers and black. It’s too perfect and worth a laugh wherever you stand on Fox.

Really, Joe? This is a story? What is Glynnis on vacation, so you need to pick up the nonsensical FOX attack duties?

    Yeesh.

  • TfT

I’m sure you view this equally as funny when it happens on CNN or NBC or ABC or even CBS, where of course it has happened. Funny it’s only an issue if it happens on FNC. Yeesh is exactly right!

  • roxsteady

Pathetic! The reason you don’t see this kind of thing thrown at other networks is because they don’t have a propensity for distorting and lying when it comes to the news. They don’t have the reputation that fox does for spinning all things Democrat to be a disaster while promoting teabagger protest on their network. If this has happened on other networks, they don’t have the reputation that fox does so, it was not seen as more of what they normally do. The funniest thing I find on this site is the way many people come on and instead of commenting on the substance of the story, they simply trash the writer if they don’t like what was written. Fox is a disgrace and anyone with a brain can see that. Just tell your stupid viewers what they want to hear because the facts are just too painful.

  • same2u

Some things never change: Fox News cutting short liberal opinion and the opinion of the two people above who after some 10,000 comments between them on media boards, are as predictable as they are now as they were when they had only 500 comments between them.

  • ChrisNH

Ahhh…the old ‘Al-Gore-shut-off-the-microphone’ trick! File under, ‘two can play at that game.’

  • sueNaustin

same2u: I totally agree! I read here quite a bit and I don’t think I have gone to a single article that ImNotBlue has not commented on (usually at length). It is mind boggling to me — what does he/she do for a living?? And so predictable — especially, the whining sense that they are besieged by liberal bandits at their doors. They are the defenders of Fox News, BY GOD!!!

  • Fidoohki

..and what does Imnotblue’s posting frequency have to do with her comments?

As for this, they have had satellite issues with conservatives as well so this
is really just looks like a fluke… however, if it becomes a pattern I’d reconsider
    my opinion.

  • m

Fox News is a conservative biased news station. Everything they do is political. We all know this.

    Next.

  • http://www.uselessbeauty.com Vidiot

Yep, another in a long line of “technical glitches” at Fox News, just like editing old video into a piece to pump up a tea-party protest, or using chyrons identifying scandal-plagued GOPers as Dems. Didn’t Fox say they’d crack down on all these technical problems and that heads would roll?

Even if it was a technical issue, they certainly seem to be having a lot of them. Didn’t their production managers know when their satellite window was closing?

  • personwhomakescomments

    LOL @ same2u!!

I think “Imnotblue” alone must have 50,000 comments across all media-related websites……I think he literally LIVES on this site.

  • felixw

A Democrat’s comment was cut off on Fox? Well, there is not chance of a Republican getting cut off on MSNBC. Keith Olbermann never allows Republicans on his show, so they there is no need to cut them off.

  • puck30

On 12/28 Ron Paul debated Ben Stein on Larry King’s show on CNN. The debate got pretty heated and at the end Larry said they would be back the next night.

12/29 came and…..whoops! No Ron Paul. CNN could not get the satellite feed from Texas to work. So they had a quick last minute fill in for Paul. Now if I was to use the logic pattern here. This should make CNN the channel for Neo-Cons.

    Correct Mr. Coscarelli ?

Two Things here: I’ve seen Joe Sestak on FNC a lot. If you don’t want the man on saying stuff, why cut him off?
Just don’t bring him on. Also I can give you the names of a few Conservatives that are banned on FNC.

Two: Mr. Coscarelli if you are a media person as you say you are, you do know that uplinks can go crazy or they just time out. If it is the latter, then boo on FNC and the tech that was in charge of that needs to be benched.

I agree. there is some bias at FNC but it cuts both ways. Also who would like to tell me that MSNBC & CNN are not with a straight face? I didn’t think so.

Ah Mr. Coscarelli, but if your piece was to get some backslapping and kudos from anti-FNC websites? Then as Keith Olbermann would say mission accomplished.

  • Check It

    Joe,

I agree with you that it is pretty funny, given the enorous list of not quite totally accidental gaffes (usually just getting things wrong) that just happen to always cut in the same direction, on Fox, though this one probably (but who knows) just an actual random glitch, still, funny.
I think the health care bill is an abomination
    http://donkasaurus.blogspot.com/2009/12/health-care-reform-kill-this-bill.html

but still, health care is out of control in this country, and the “discussion” on it has been an abomination too, largely bc I think the far right has given a lot of misleading information to start off with, and because democrats, who can’t even pass a decent bill that even some Republicans would like with a solid majority, have done a terrible job explaining, showing, and framing the issue, and well, the media has done a pretty poor job covering it too. It’s a trifecta.

    Puck 30

Fox is not biased. all news is probably to some extent biased, it is impossible to remove. What fox does is very different. Dems are horrendous at framing this however, so they level accusations of bias against fox. Keith olberman, who probably IS biased, had a great piece which illustrated what Fox actually does, a memo that served as a bit of a smoking gun on how fox actually set a purposeful agenda, so how does he start out the framing? “some say the media is biased liberally, here is evidence that at least one station is biased in the opposite direction.” the far right and fox should pay olberman for stupidity like that (after that he was fine, and more newsy.)

what fox does is advocacy, housed under the context of news, with little bits of apparent “balance” (and relentless references to it desinged to always remind or convince you) and tidbits thrown in so that it actually looks and appears like you are gettin news, not advocacy, which is FAR more effective than outright advocacy.

many think fox is not that bad because it tells you what you want to hear. so lets; look at the results on one major topic of the day, say climate change, where even some commenters on here are so misinformed that is is really remarkable. consider what one constantly hears,”learns” and is exposed to on fox, in comparison with the basic in controvertible facts, and underlying physics, geological, and chemicals science, and consider it in the context of a perfect spokesperson for Fox on this issue:

So, because you blame FOX for all kinds of things, any time there is an accident (that happens to all networks, of all stripes), you can attribute it to something that’s not real. Is that you’re point? That you know you’re being unfair and inconsistent… but since it’s FOX, it’s okay?

That says a lot more about you, than about anything else.

(PS- There wasn’t much to comment on this story. There was a satellite glitch… It. Happens. All. The. Time. It has nothing to do with bias… just technology. The story was simply a cheap shot.)

    1) What does it matter to you how much I comment?
    2) I comment because I enjoy it. If you don’t like it, tough tuchas.
    3) I work in television… unlike so very many here. In fact, working with satellites is part of my job… so for this story, I very much know what I’m talking about.
    4) Thank you for your (and Same’s) perpetual concern. Why you’re so interested in me, I don’t quite understand.

Not necessarily a closing satellite issue. Could have been weather related (it was pretty windy here), could have been a glitch in the receiver… could have been any number of problems.

Man, you folks… always looking for a conspiracy. Yeesh.

ImnotSmart and SEESEELYA, it is so obvious the Fox News is not Fair and Balanced that is the issue. Fox News says that they are but we all know the truth…..MSNBC does not make that claim and neither does CNN.
Fox News hipocritically stands behind that slogan like some badge of honor. From Fox and Friends to Van Palin, except for the 2 hours of Shep Smith it is 24 hour GOP propoganda. Fox News is still pissed that they do not get their daily White House talking points, It is just sad people like people like SEESEELYA and Imnotsmart as well as all the trolls at Dollars dump just don’t see it.

MSNBC does not make that claim and neither does CNN.

This is always a curious line of thinking to me. It appears that so many on the left after “upset” with FNC because of their slogan… what a petty thing to be angry about.

Anyway, explain to me how MSNBC being, “The Place For Politics,” fits in with them running prison documentaries all the time. And explain to me how CNN’s “The Worldwide Leader In News” fits in with it being way down in the ratings here in the US.

As for the rest of your stuff… huh? You provide no examples, no evidence, just a lot of copy-paste FNC-hate. Yeah, we get it, you don’t like people who don’t agree with you. Although, I don’t know why you’d like FNC is “pissed.” They’re ratings are better than ever… not a whole lot to be upset about. The only one who seems upset, is the person who resorts to really juvenile name-altering. “ImnotSmart and SEESEELYA” is the best you can do? Ouch.

  • Facebook User

Well Imnotsmart, you backed up you usual Fox News drivel with rating or the all important Demo that your idol Mark Koldys likes to thump like the bible. CNN is still rated number one in total viewers as well if you include online viewers. As for MSNBC it is the place for politics the only Liberal media you have is Ed, Maddow and Olbermann, but still no Fair and Balanced monicker.
You want evidence of Fox News hate well Megan Kelly and the racial comment about those people, Glen Beck and his daily hate fest for Obama, Steve Doocy saying that Obama was taught in a Muslim School. Need I keep going . Where is Fox News balance for Hannity, Greta, The Fiends in the Morning, it is nowhere, That is why Fox News is nothing but the Spongebob Square Pants of Cable News. As for the childish name calling how gives a rats ass what you say trollboy.

  • The Real Royal King

This is so expected. The usual FOX “technical problem,” always at the expense of some Democrat or progressive, the usual FOX defenders, led by and “frenzied up” by the “unofficial” fan site with their usual “spontaneous” semi-literate non-sequiturs.

  • The Real Royal King

The “Spongebob Square Pants of Cable News”? It fits.

  • ImNotBlue

CNN is still rated number one in total viewers as well if you include online viewers.

    1) Is there evidence of this? And 2) who came up with that standard?! Now you’re just making up new methods of measurement?! Wow… good for you. I’ll stick with talking about television… but, you know, you go talk about whatever you want… to yourself.

As for MSNBC it is the place for politics the only Liberal media you have is Ed, Maddow and Olbermann, but still no Fair and Balanced monicker.

Oh, and don’t forget Schuster and Matthews… oh, and those folks in the afternoon too. But you know, who’s counting. Of course, that doesn’t answer the question of how you justify them having all those crime documentaries (especially like when there’s an attempted terror attack… and they keep rolling those docs). But perhaps if you change the subject, I won’t remember.

You want evidence of Fox News hate…

You realize you provided no evidence… and half of the “stories” you’re apparently TRYING to talk about either don’t prove anything, didn’t/don’t actually happen, or have an easy answer (like Hannity talking to a few different Democrats each night… unlike, say, Olbermann who has never talked to someone who disagreed with him… and Greta is more left than right, and doesn’t really talk politics). This really makes me question your knowledge of the word “evidence,” but apparently grammar and spelling just isn’t “your thing,” so I’m not surprised.

As for the childish name calling how gives a rats ass what you say trollboy.

Um… what? Is that even English?

Oh, and you apparently “give a rat’s ass”… or else you wouldn’t have responded.

    The Real Royal King says:
    January 4, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Yeah… tech problems. Crazy, isn’t it. Good thing CNN never put a big X through Dick Cheney’s presser… or that MSNBC rarely interviews Republicans, so their tech issues only effect themselves. So much knowledge about FNC… and yet, I suspect, you watch it about as much as “Facebook User” thinks for himself… which is to say, of course, not much at all.

  • Facebook User

Well Well Well, I guess you are just to stupid to realize or are just too illeterate to read what I typed….but I showed you several instances of Fox News hate for the Liberals.
As for ratings your BFF Mark Koldys aka Dipshit Dollar made a post a few weeks ago that CNN has more viewers than Fox if you include internet viewership. And If you had half a brain you would understand that CNN does show alot of its programming on the internet, you know the programming that is show on Television.
As for Fox, Conservatives……Doocy, Carlson, Kilmeade, Beck, Hannity, Greta (Palin), Huckabee, Hume, Baier, need I keep going, so much for that Fair and Balanced shit that you preach.
As for MSNBC showing Crime Shows, so what you watch Fox why do you care? Plus those show beat Fixed News weekend garbage in that all important Demo as you like to preach.
As for MSNBC interviewing Republican I find that laughable, but you get your news from Fox, so I figure you like Comedy.
My problem with Fox News is that lt ls not Fair and Balanced and idiots like you get on here and preach to us that it is.
As for my Syntex and Grammer you got the point didn’t you or are you wishing you were ASSLEY over at Dollars dump thinking it ( he, she it) is the Internet Grammar Police.
Do us all a favor go back to Dollars Dump and preach to the masses, since he has a 5 followers it should be an easy sermon.

Also ImnotSmart what are you are Conservative or a Liberal.?

Well… no you didn’t. You tried to… but you failed. Again, look up evidence, then you’ll understand (hopefully) why what you said was just babble… not evidence.

And If you had half a brain you would understand that CNN does show alot [sic] of its programming on the internet, you know the programming that is show on Television.

So what you’re saying is that folk tune into CNN.com to watch programming. Any evidence of that? Do was have a counter on how many times videos were played? No? Just guessing then… again… got it.

As for MSNBC showing Crime Shows, so what you watch Fox why do you care?

Hmmm… missing the point again. I asked you about MSNBC’s slogan because you were so worked up over it. I don’t care… but you apparently do. So answer the question… how do YOU justify MSNBC being the “place for politics,” and showing crime docs all the time?

Plus those show beat Fixed News weekend garbage in that all important Demo as you like to preach.

Well… I’ve never talked about the Demo. Do you understand what “the demo” is? Your use of it indicates, no. Oh, and as for beating them in the ratings… no… sorry again. <a href="http://www.mediaite.com/tv/fox-news-dominates-sunday-ratings-during-christmas-weekend/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+mediaite%2FClHj+%28Mediaite%29"That's wrong. (PSSST- See how I linked to the numbers, there? That’s called “evidence.”)

As for MSNBC interviewing Republican I find that laughable…

    Um, why?

My problem with Fox News is that lt ls not Fair and Balanced and idiots like you get on here and preach to us that it is.

Out of curiosity… I did that where, exactly?

Anyway… you’re that guy who keeps getting bounced out of Dollar’s place, even though you change your name and try to post, right? HA! You really do have a man-crush on Dollar, don’t you! Too funny.

Also ImnotSmart what are you are Conservative or a Liberal.?

Neither… but what does it matter?

Once again another Mark Koldys kool aide drinker wanting proof of the obvious. While I cannot find a more recent post….a few months ago Koldys had a link about CNN having more viewers due to internet viewership.
So you deny that Fox News does not show hate towards Democrats, what about Beck, Hannity, Huckabee, the Three Stooges in the Morning, Rupert himself. Come on Blue you are not that much of an idiot are you.
So Blue Boy go back to Dollars Dump tell Koldys how great he is, kiss his ass and hope that he is not to pissed off at you for getting your ass handed to you.

  • The Real Royal King

As for the Three Stooges, I have to say that Kilmeade can, at times, be fair and pleasant. Doocy is a strident ideologue and the Gretch is a venom-spitting Teabagger. I think she is, perhaps, the most hateful person on television and the least balanced, as to content and personality profile.

What’s really funny, is that from all the J$ attacks… that’s how you found out about this post, isn’t it? J$ doesn’t allow your unintelligible posts anymore, but you still read his site daily. That’s how you found this thread, and why you’ve only posted here… not anywhere else… because Dollar directed you! HA! Your obsession is cute!

Once again another Mark Koldys kool aide drinker wanting proof of the obvious.

Yeah… darn me for asking for proof. What an idiot I must be to have facts before I believe something. (Giggle)

….a few months ago Koldys had a link

    So obsessed. HA!

…about CNN having more viewers due to internet viewership.

And yet you can’t find any evidence. The article you posted doesn’t say that. It says that CNN had a good first quarter… a year ago. It also said that CNN’s inauguration coverage was watched by a lot of people… but that really doesn’t speak to daily ratings, just one specific event. Sorry… please try again.

So you deny that Fox News does not show hate towards Democrats…

Yes… that I will deny. All the hosts you mentioned talked to Democrats, including current politicians and FNC exclusive analysts. Some may strongly disagree with Democrats, and tow the right-wing line (like Hannity), but hate… no, no hate. That is different than say, Keith Olbermann… who is so scared of Republicans he won’t talk to them. There’s your hate.

So Blue Boy go back to Dollars Dump…

    See you there, apparently.

tell Koldys how great he is,

I’ll just tell him how much you miss him. Are you a bitter ex-girlfriend or something?

hope that he is not to pissed off at you for getting your ass handed to you.

    Yeah… that’s what happened. HAHAHAHAHA!

Is it tough to call someone a “venom-spitter” while dribbling venom down your own chin? I guess that’s why you type it. Perhaps just another case of, “Do as I want you to do, I can do whatever I want.”

Well blueboy, sure I posted at Dollars Dump and when you got against the great Fox News you get banned ie Haggis, Johnt , AAP just to name a few….Dollar cannot handle the truth, you moronic hack. I am not obeseed with Dollar, not at all I just call Dollar our on his obvious lies.
What about Blackthong and his obsession with Newshounds, Chimeri and his obsession with anything Billo and Assley and Dollar obvious obsession with Olbermann. Seems to me you have that as well.
So Blueboy you can try again talk the talk but you just got your ass handed to you, but you ought to be used to that since It happens daily to everyone at Dollar Dump

WOW! You know all the regular posters over there really well! Man, you need to get out more! You’ve clearly got issues with all of them… craving attention and stuff, I suppose. Wow!

So Blueboy you can try again talk the talk but you just got your ass handed to you…

Yeah, that’s what happened. You, a Dollar wannabe, obsessed with his site and the people who post there, rambled on without any facts, evidence, or common decency for the English language… handed me nothing. You tried… and I’m sure your derangement won’t end today, so you’ll try again in the future. Fail.

INB: Let’s not forget than CNN not only has an immense internet presence, as noted by Koldys, but also a very public facility presence (virtually every airport in the US and many abroad, reception areas and waiting rooms) and a huge international presence, largely lacking for FOX. I don’t say that to in anyway detract from FOX, but only to add a bit of perspective in your great mission to demonize and minimize CNN.
