“Taliban Dan” Webster Answers Alan Grayson’s “Anti-Woman” Charge

video

FactCheck.org has already debunked Rep. Alan Grayson’s “Taliban Dan” ad, which is quickly becoming the most controversial one of the midterm season. And today Daniel Webster decided to further his own case on Fox News, where he responded to Grayson’s attack.

Webster told viewers what the speech that Grayson edited was really about, explaining that he was originally “talking about the idea of praying for your wife, but don’t pray — don’t pray — the verses that say, ‘Submit to me.’ ” This echoes FactCheck’s assertion that Grayson “edited video to make his rival appear to be saying the opposite of what he really said.”

While some in the media cite previous smear campaigns that Republicans have used against Democrats (the swiftboating of John Kerry first comes to mind), Webster doesn’t see that as an excuse for Grayon’s attack. The Fox News reporter, however, seemed delighted by how Grayson has inadvertently “energized his opponent’s base.” She also brags that polls have Grayson “way behind” Webster with women voters.

Webster confirmed the FNC anchor’s comments, saying that Grayson’s attempts have indeed boosted his fundraising. “I wouldn’t want to try to help my campaign this way,” he said. “But it has helped.”

In one of the most closely watched U.S. House races in the nation, Republican Daniel Webster now holds a 7-point lead over Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson in Central Florida’s 8th Congressional District, according to a new Sunshine State News Poll.

That’s a darn shame. But if Grayson loses, the Democrats have plenty of other a-holes to take his place.

That wasn’t Megyn Kelly. Another lackluster performance from the Mediate editing team.

Nothing the swiftboat captains alleged about John F. Ketchup was ever proven untrue . ” Swiftboating ” is a phony term , unless taken to mean exposing the truth . By the way , that’s Martha McCallum in the video .

I am shocked — SHOCKED I SAY — that a Southern Baptist would pick and choose which verses of the Bible he feels we should obey. Any women who vote for Webster of their own free will — rather than at their husband’s or father’s direction — will burn in the hottest flames in the lowest depths of Hell. Amen.

Right! As long as you keep in mind that the Swiftoboater lied in official Navy documents made at the time of the events but suddenly, miraculously decided to tell the truth in 2004.

Never before in politics has a choice between good and scum-sucking evil been made so elaborately clear as in the race between Alan Grayson and Daniel Webster. This is oddly like the old story of a Faustian bargain and a right to a trial. May this Daniel Webster acquit himself as well as his namesake —”the freshness of a fine morning…the taste of food when you’re hungry…the new day that’s every day when you’re a child”—and how “without freedom, they sickened.” It is indeed wonderful to be a human being, to be alive, and to be an American. Wrongs have admittedly been done in America, but something new and good had grown from it, “and everybody had played a part in it, even the traitors.” Mankind “got tricked and trapped and bamboozled, but it was a great journey,” something “no demon that was ever foaled” could ever understand. Give him hell, Daniel Webster!

Speaking of the devil and submitting to husbands, maybe the reason Alan Grayson is polling so badly with women is because he actually looks like Rosemary’s Baby. He has a face only a mother could love.

Of all the super bad people in Congress, there are two (2) I want the most to be kicked out.

They are ALAN GRAYSON & BARBARA BOXER.
    We’ll see what happens.

Grayson had another ad where he claimed Webster dodged the draft 6 times (he was enrolled in college, and ultimately was turned down for service when he applied), and a third was found by Politico where he basically plagarized another politician’s campaign ads from years ago. The hilarity is Grayson had a 13% point lead before his smear ads went to air. He could have done nothing and won, instead his ego and feelings of invincibility possibly have led him to his own demise.

You would think uber-progressive Alan Grayson, of all people, would proudly run on the Democrat agenda record of

    Spend money we don’t have
    On bills we don’t read
    For programs that don’t work

But even he is apparently ashamed of the mess in D.C. So he needs to run his campaign — like every other Democrat this year, it seems — on smears, mud-slinging and character attacks.

Grayson’s clip is out of context, but it certainly doesn’t imply “the opposite” of what Webster meant. Yes, Webster was advising husbands to pray to fulfill their own Biblically prescribed duties–such as loving their wives–rather than praying that their wives would fulfill their Biblical duties–such as submitting to their husbands. But viewing a longer clip makes it clear that the he endorses the doctrine of wifely submission (“it is in the Bible”); it’s just that he is giving advice to husbands, not to wives.

Webster was dispensing this advice at a gathering of the Institute in Basic Life Principles, an organization with which he has been closely associated for decades. The IBLP stresses the importance of obedience to authority, including wives’ submission to their husbands. What kind of advice does the IBLP give wives? You can get a sample on this page on the organization’s website: http://ati.iblp.org/ati/supportlink/kb/questions/237/How+can+I+help+my+husband+take+on+spiritual+leadership%3F. It cautions wives that “the slightest resistance or displeasure” on their part can undermine their husbands’ all-important spiritual leadership.

The import of Grayson’s ad — that Webster adheres to a male-supremacist religious creed that influences his work in government — is perfectly sound. Webster, however, refuses to discuss specifics of his beliefs.

That scumbag Grayson always resorts to gutter politics. This one is going to backfire on him and propel Webster into Alan’s seat in Congress. Martha McCallum, as always was very professional. Too bad MSNBC & CNN don’t have excellent reporters and news people like FOX News. Bottom line is Grayson doesn’t deserve to be in Congress. Florida and all of the United States of America deserve a whole hell of a lot better than this Alan Grayson.

Quote from the article: “While some in the media cite previous smear campaigns that Republicans have used against Democrats (the swiftboating of John Kerry first comes to mind)…

Oh, for crying out loud. Enough with the leftist whining that Kerry got “swift boated” by nothing but lies. Let the record show that EVEN HIS OWN CREW DIDN’T SUPPORT Kerry’s presidential bid. The most laughable moment of all being Kerry’s convention speech, when he tried to create a media moment by ending his speecha and saluting and declaring “he was ready to serve” while standing amidst a large group of veterans…the CROCK being that only ONE of those standing on the stage actually served with Kerry (while the presentation made it seem as if they ALL had).

Not to mention, Kerry himself STUPIDLY opened his mouth and could have ended any “swift boat” allegations against him. Again, it was Kerry HIMSELF who bragged on TV — early in his campaign — how much he “treasured” things he brought home from the war, how he kept them in a special place to look at and to remember his time in the Vietnam war, and he SPECIFICALLY cited his Captain’s Log Book…again, all to create the public impression of what a noble veteran he was.

Yet when the “swift boat” allegations came about, it was the LA TIMES which had the best solution. They asked Kerry to simply let them read his ship’s log book, to see “what” was actually recorded in it. So the facts could be properly investigated. At which point Kerry did a 180 and suddenly declared that he now DIDN’T know where anything was, and in fact claimed that he wasn’t sure if he had his log book at all.

  • Snidely

Alan Grayson seems to me to be merely insane, not evil.

John Kerry I consider a traitor and a poseur and a thoroughly evil person. His testimony before Congress was an insult to all the troops who served honorably in a war promulgated by a Democratic president – Johnson – whose only reason for doing it was that he didn’t want to be the president who “lost” Vietnam. This is a video of that testimony.
