Fox’s Howard Kurtz Exposes NY Times’ Obsession with Butts

In an online-only segment that somehow was not important enough to be featured on this past weekend’s MediaBuzz, Fox News’ Howard Kurtz delved into a recent New York Times trend piece on big butts.

Kurtz invited The Hollywood Reporter’s Marisa Guthrie to discuss what the Times was thinking with the “provocative” story, with both concluding that it’s “all about the clicks.” After all, it’s not as if women proudly showing off their large rears is an entirely new phenomenon.

“I just sort of wonder, a lot of people made fun of this online, and it’s not like it’s the most important thing to happen this week, but do you look a little bit out of step when you’re the 9,000th news organization to take note of this?” Kurtz wondered.

That being said, after Jezebel, The Huffington Post, Flavorwire, Boing Boing, and, yes, Mediaite already ran pieces over the weekend about the Times’ butt story, couldn’t you ask the same question of Kurtz?
