Yesterday we knew FNC’s Major Garrett, CBS’ Katie Couric and NBC’s Brian Williams were there. Today Politico fills in the blanks with exactly who was in attendance.
According to Mike Allen‘s Politico Playbook, here were the full slate of journalists:
Katie Couric, Chip Reid, Diane Sawyer, Jake Tapper, Brian Williams, Chuck Todd, Major Garrett, Candy Crowley, Ed Henry, NPR’s Steve Inskeep and Univision’s Lourdes Meluza.
Certainly a balanced group. Also there were David Axelrod, Robert Gibbs, Rahm Emanuel, Valerie Jarrett and Jen Psaki.
This means that the repeats from January’s off-the-record sit down are the big three news anchors, Sawyer, Couric, and Williams.
For those who are interested in this sort of thing, Politico has some more details:
The president passed on the dessert — peach crumble tart. But he nearly polished off his potato-crusted halibut over artichoke purée and grilled cepes and cipollini.
It appears far less information came out from this off-the-record lunch than January’s (which had Shepard Smith giving his report, albeit without details, on the air a few hours later). Even Couric, who tweeted about the lunch yesterday morning, later deleted it completely. Although these journalists aren’t likely to get any news to report from the lunches, it could pay dividends in the future – we’ll see who from the lunch lands the next big scoop or get.
