Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell Say Congress Is Ready to ‘Act Quickly’ on Hurricane Relief Funding
Congress is back in session next week, and the Republican leaders of both chambers say they’re ready to take quick action on getting hurricane relief funding passed.
As of this evening, CNN reports the Trump administration is asking for $7.85 billion “for response and initial recovery efforts related to Hurricane Harvey.”
Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in statements earlier tonight that they will “act quickly”:
As families & communities begin long recovery from Hurricane Harvey, House will act quickly on @POTUS request for emergency relief funding.
