Scarborough Rips Dems For Not Backing Feinstein: ‘Identity Politics’ Will Be ‘Undoing of Democrats’

“Can you believe that?” Joe Scarborough said Tuesday on Morning Joe “That (Sen.) Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), as much as she’s given to the Democratic Party for as long as she’s given it to the Democratic Party on the local, state and national level is insufficiently liberal for California politics?”

The MSNBC host was referring to the outcome of Sunday’s endorsement vote by California Democrats in this year’s Senate race. By a 54-37 margin, the party opted to back state Senate leader Kevin de Leon in the Senate primary (though it will not make an official endorsement, since de Leon fell short of the required 60 percent benchmark).

Scarborough believes this is a harbinger of bad things to come for Democrats not just in California, but across the country.

“Democrats are their own worst enemy,” the host said. He added, “I know it’s a buzzword for conservatives, but it’s true; Identity politics will be the undoing of Democrats in 2020 if not 2018.”
