Brian Kilmeade said on Fox & Friends Tuesday that President Trump has himself to blame for the fact that media talks more about the Russia investigation than his accomplishments.
Co-hosts Steve Doocy and Abby Huntsman bemoaned the media’s “obsession” with Robert Mueller‘s special counsel probe, noting how much time it takes away from news about the economy. Kilmeade countered however that Trump causes this to happen with statements like his tweet about how he has the “absolute right” to pardon himself if he was ever indicted for anything.
“It is the president’s fault to a degree because he keeps talking about it,” Kilmeade said. “If he did not come out and say ‘I can pardon myself’ and just focused on the economy…they wouldn’t be talking about it.”
Huntsman added that Rudy Giuliani as well can’t stop distracting the media from the Russia probe, though Kilmeade countered that wasn’t a good enough excuse.
“When someone comes up to you with a hypothetical of can the president pardon himself, say ‘What does that have to do with anything? Move on.’ Then you’d be focused on the best economy in 50 years.”
